Samsung Galaxy S3

Hi,

I'll be on a business trip for two week in London. What I have now is a Canadian version Samsung Galaxy S III but I'm not sure if the phone can be used when roaming in UK. The specification of the Canadian version can be found here http://www.bell.ca/Mobility/Products/Samsung-Galaxy-S3 but I could not find the description of the UK version on your page http://www.vodafone.co.uk/brands/samsung/galaxy-s3/?cid=rdr-7020-06

Anyone can confirm that my phone can be used without any problems.

Yes your phone will connect to Uk networks but be careful of the roaming charges - they will be expensive

if when you get here you get no connection you will have to set the phone to GSM mode 

settings>More settings Mobile networks 

amd as above shut youe data off and use your Hotels wifi 

Oh and any probs Nip back on here and we shall see what we can do

Has your phone got a Sim card slot ?

If so you can get a pay as you go simm bt you will need to cut the simm down

What do you mean? How can I check the sim slot? Cutting? Sorry I'm really not very tech-savvy

You have two options.

You can get a roaming package from your canadian network, or you can buy a pay as you go sim card when you get to the UK.

You'll need to weigh up where you'll be calling from your phone, as calling abroad from a PAYG is expensive, but is it cheaper than your own network will charge you. You'll need to do the research.

If you buy a PAYG sim card it'll be a full size one, you'll then need a sim cutter (about £5.00, not sure what that is in Canadian Dollars), just pop the sim in and it'll cut it to the micro-sim size your S3 uses.

Alternatively there are a LOT of non-network mobile phone shops that will do this for you for a small fee.

Don't Vodafone supply PAYG micro sims? If not I've learnt something new

Adammada - if you are going to think about using a local UK sim make sure that your phone isn't locked to your Canadian network.

Thank you guys. Actually my employer will pay for the usage so I'm not too worried about the roaming fees.

And one of my colleagues just came back from UK and confirmed our Galaxy S iii can be used there without any issues!

Glad your sorted 

For intrest the simm card slot is under the battery cover and on the European phones its a Micro sim but the pay as you go are full size so they need cutting to shap 

But you don't need that
