Email Problem

Hi,

Just got my S3 and was wondering if someone can help me, I use to have an Iphone where I had Exchange setup on hotmail so anything I did on my phone (delete or read emails) would also update on the email account on my computer they synced together, I setup the email the standard way on the s3 and receive emails but if I read them or delete them when I log on to my computer there still there unread and undeleted.

I tried setting up "active sync" on the phone but it keeps saying invalid server address or username. Can any one help?

Thanks

Cameron

Re: Email Problem

Open Accounts have you set up the exchange account in there ?

If not it needs to be set up there first

Re: Email Problem

How to Set up a pop3 Hotmail account

Tap > Email app > Menu > Add Account.
Input the email address in full.
Input the Password of your email Account
Tick/Untick for default account
Tap > Manual setup
Now input the settings as shown in the images .

Take note of the "Delete email from server".

Re: Email Problem

you may need to check the settings of your email client on your PC/Mac.

You may have an option to keep a copy (of the email) on the server...?

This will counter act what is happening on the Phone!

By far the best type of email to use on any Mobile Phone is one that uses imap servers. Unfortunately I don't think Hotmail does?

Re: Email Problem

Hi,

Well I'm pretty sure it's to do with the phone not being set up properly as I believe it should be set up as active sync option ? I never had this issue with my iphone that's why I believe the phone is not set up correctly

Re: Email Problem

Just to let everyone know I sorted this problem out, its a common problem apparently, it asks you for the domain/username and it auto inserts the user name example : /Stephen-100  it needs to be Stephen-100@hotmail.co.uk

Hope this helps anyone with the same problem.

Re: Email Problem

Hi there

I am having similiar issues with hotmail on my s3. At the moment it shows that I have 13 emails in my inbox, however, they do not populate so that I can open them, I keep getting 'connection error hotmail'

I have checked all the settings which are fine and correct, yesterday they populated and I can read them, but now it just shows I have mail in my inbox.

I can send emails fine, and they are recieved, any assistance would be helpful, cheers muchly!

Re: Email Problem

Freenetname Incoming Mail Server - mail.freenetname.co.uk
Freenetname Outgoing Mail Server - smtpmail.freenetname.co.uk

Have you got these as server settings?

Re: Email Problem

Dont know if this has anything to do with it but madasafish ( who I think your email is through) have had some data transfer issues today and have advised people if they are having data transfer problems to switch their router off for  a minute then back on and connect again.

Might be worth a try ?

Re: Email Problem

with the above server settings have you tried

Port: 110
Use SSL: OFF

SMTP Port: 25
SMTP Encryption: Off

and always put full email in as username ?

Re: Email Problem

@karenj72

What email are you trying to configure?

Can you post the settings you are using. We might be able to help?
