Pre-ordered phone

Hi,

I pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy SIII last week when Vodafone put up the pre-ordering options this has been confirmed through my email address and is now waiting to be despatched on the 30th May, the problem is that my current contract expires today but I want to have a new number with the SIII when it arrives and therefore I never decided to wait for my upgrade options and also thinking about demand for the phone all prompted me to order quickly. Should I have waited until today for my contract to have expired before placing the pre-ordering or will I be able to cancel my existing pay monthly contract/account with Vodafone & have the SIII as my main phone/account when it arrives.

P.S. I do not want to have two accounts active or have to pay for two contracts and thanks in advance.

Re: Pre-ordered phone

HI Dkay,

You will need to serve 30 days notice on your existing contract before it is disconnected so you will have a small amount of overlap on your contracts.

To cancel you will need to provide the following information:

• the account name, and account number
• the invoice address
• the mobile number to be terminated
• the date of termination
• the name of the account owner or administrator

Ths must be sent in writing to:

Vodafone Limited
PO Box 932
DONCASTER
DN4 5XW

As you have placed a new order for the S3 you will effectivly be starting from scratch so you will need to create a new My Account, different from your existing one.

Re: Pre-ordered phone

You do not have to send it in writing just go onto the contact up page and send them a message asking to cancel your contract that is what i was told when i phoned 191 and asked them,my contract was canceled on the 12th of this month

Re: Pre-ordered phone

@tonytango

It's ALWAYS best to do it in writing by sending a letter, as above. This will also be in your Contract terms somewhere (buried deep i'd imagine!)

The Contact Us section on the website is not the place to do it.

This protects you, the last thing you want is to think you have cancelled it for VF to tell you that you haven't because you haven't done it properly.

Sometimes the simple answer is overlooked because it's technology that's complicated!

Re: Pre-ordered phone

Email (or a 'Contact Us' form) is not a reliable delivery method.

I would always recommend sending important letters such as this via Royal Mail Recorded or Special Delivery. This way you ensure it will be delivered.
