Problems with handsfree

I've been trying to work out if this is a fault with my own S3, or something more general. Essentially, the following occurs:

1) When I use the handsfree that came with the S3, during calls the other person is almost inaudible. Meanwhile, my voice is apparently much louder than normal. Using this same handsfree to listen to music, the audio is very tinny and subdued.

2) Using an older Samsung handsfree (one that came with the Jet 3 years ago), the music is also very tinny but if I hold in the talk button, it is normal. This same handsfree is unusable during calls as I can only hear audio if I hold in the talk button, and the other person can't hear anything. However, if I remove the handsfree part of the unit and just use the headphones plugged straight into the S3 to listen to music, it sounds normal.

3) Using my wife's 2-year-old Blackberry handsfree, everything behaves. We can both hear each other fine, and music sounds normal as well.

Both Samsung handsfrees have a mic, a volume control plus the ability to skip tracks, while the Blackberry one can't do anything other than accept/hang up on phone calls. I've tried nosing around in all the settings on the S3 I could find, but nothing's made a difference. Any ideas what could be causing this, and is there a fault with my phone? It's been working great so far apart from this.

Re: Problems with handsfree

Hi Guys,

Unfortunately I currently don’t have access to the phone or hands free kit to be able to test this.

@ ado28, please let us know how you get on so we can pick this up again if required.

Re: Problems with handsfree

Hi Guys,

I have tested my handsfree kit (wep500) and also the standard handsfree earphones which come with the phone and confirm that both are crisp and clear. If your having problems then I would suggest performing a factory data reset just in case its a slight software glitch.

Re: Problems with handsfree

Hi, I can confirm, as ADO has, that my supplied headphones are great, sound very crisp and clear, I can also confirm that with my old galaxy s headphones I get the exact same problem as described above, poor sound, but improves when the button is pressed.

Have you tried what ADO has suggested?
