From what I can work out on the main VF site, they seem to be saying that "pre-orders" should be delivered within 5 days and "back-orders" between 2-4 weeks.
You can only pre-order a white 16gb at the moment but I'm hoping that means those who already have pre-order status on the other models will be able to receive their handsets within 5 days.
It will be interesting to see what other carriers are saying. Is it just VF or are Orange and the like also screwed?
If it really is a delay at Samsung's end then I think they should release a statement after such a high profile and anticipated launch.
I'll reserve judgement on VF at the moment

First ever contract with Vodafone moving from O2 due to poor customer service. Pre ordered the galaxy S3 16gb in white about 2 weeks ago. Last night received an email to say it would be delivered as expected tomorrow, at the same time also received an email saying there was a delay of 2-4 weeks. Checked the website this morning and noticed they are accepting orders for this model but say 5 working days. Read a post on here saying if it was ordered before 6pm on the 28th it should be delivered on time. Getting confused at this point I called customer services for some clarification, after explaining this to an advisor was hung up on ...... welcome to vodafone.

Pre Ordered my 16Gb White a couple of weeks ago but havent had any of the afore mentioned emails about release date, does Vodafone have an update on the current situation regarding this model?

For what its worth I would like to register my frustration with the way that this has been handled by VF. Whilst I understand that this is a manufacturing issue an email at 19:47 the day before launch is not really very good customer service. Surely the logistics invloved in dispatching the number of phones they are talking about would mean that they would have to know if they were available or not way before?
Many of the points already raised on this thread are vaild so I won't repeat but it would be good to see some gesture of good will from VF

I pre orderd a 16GB Whie version a couple of weeks ago.
I receieved an email last night saying its on its way and will be delivered on the 30th.
I though i'd get a text message confirming dleivery times etc...? Is that not the case? will I have to stay at home tmorrow abnd wait?
( as they wouldnt deliver to my work address)

i upgraded my contract 5 days ago on the understanding that i pre-ordered the S3 and would receive it on release date (30th May).
I have received an email from vodafone this morning stating it was going to take 2-4 weeks for me to receive my new phone :@
not happy with this I have phoned my nearest VODAFONE and 3 STORE (which is where I was going to switch my contract to until vodafone kept pestering me and eventually gave me a GREAT deal) and BOTH stores have told me if I go in today or tomorrow and take out a new contract I will be able to walk away with the phone there and then EVENTHOUGH on the email i reveived it says they are waiting for delivery from samsung so its not their fault that ive got to wait.

Thus me asking the question... WHY CAN A NEW CUSTOMER TAKE AWAY THE PHONE I HAVE PRE-ORDERED AND I HAVE GOT TO WAIT A LIFETIME FOR MINE.
WHY IS IT AVAILABLE IN THE SHOPS AND NOT TO MY FRONT DOOR WHEN PRE-ORDERS ARE DESIGNED TO MAKE PEOPLE GET THEM BEFORE OTHERS!!
INSTEAD OF ME WAITING WEEKS WHY CAN'T THEY DELIVER ME ONE FROM THE STORE OR EVEN BETTER I COLLECT IT FROM THE STORE AND THEY CANCEL MY DELIVERY SURELY IT HAS THE SAME OUTCOME.
I THINK I AM GOING TO CANCEL MY CONTRACT AS I HAVE A 7 DAY COOLING OFF AND TAKE A NEW ONE OUT WITH 3 AS I ALREADY HAVE MY PAC-CODE.

I preordered mine as an upgrade on Saturday 26th and they said that there would be enough stock for preorder.
I am disgusted @ VF that this is indeed not the case as i got the same email.
Very disapointed indeed.

If that's the case then its just not cricket! People who have taken the time to pre order their phone should have preference over someone walking in to a shop in the high street. I pre ordered mine from CPW so if the shop is selling them off the shelf while I have to wait then I won't accept the delivery and get one from the high street!

Explained as I pre ordered on a upgrade my contract is now a lot more than I was paying and I have no new phone.
They informed me that if I ring them when phone does arrive they will credit my account with the difference between the prices and I have in writing

i was told i would receive my microsim on thursday 24th may
then got a voicemail saying there was a delay with courier and would get it tomorrow Friday 25th may
GUESS WHAT... it still hasnt been delivered and i have heard nothing more from VF so i dont actually know when im going to get it
