Re: Software update

What version of the software are you now running?
I had an update a while ago but it was a lot smaller than the one you got!  I guessing it is possibly something to do with the fact that your phone is SIM free.

Re: Software update

Updates never come quick especially ones like this as the manufacturers first test it with their generic handsets. They release it and then the networks add the unwanted bloatware and test it works (with the added bloatware), then those who wish to keep the warranty for their phone get the update.

I was reading this article last night which makes the same point, (among other articles) and was wondering how long it would be before the almost obligatory "when will we get our update" thread would start :smileyhappy:

Re: Software update

well there has been the reported battery drain affecting the XEU FL2 phones now this was not as bad on Vodafone, Now this was a error on Samsungs part

Now when a Update does come out there is always a mass rush on who is first past the post

Now this is Samsungs policy on Updates not Vodafones

Any Major Update they work with Networks first and they rolled out to networks First

Non Branded get theres later

But Any Fix roms Samsung will roll them out to which ever rom it needs it

In this case the XEU Boys at the moment

So there is no need for the Were is the update Vodafone !!!!

This is NOT Jelly bean

Re: Software update

ah.. *sigh* well I for one need the update just out, but will just have to wait :smileysad:(

most important for me is the ability to stop the phone vibrating when an email (and only an email) arrives!

other changes so far it seems are:
camera voice recognition - icon changed
camera voice recognition - feedback
camera - wand - 11 new modes
swype - now works in google search box
swype - now works in address bar for searching
swype - improved accuracy
text messages - attachment icon on the left
text messages - message box width reduced
text messages - delete specific messages in a conversation
new widgets - splanner month, splanner task, splanner mini today, digital clack, all share cast
lock screen - camera launch quicker
new widgets
sound crackling
audio application checkbox
email - update time
email - message body
redraw issue
adjust screen tone

Re: Software update

Yep Its a Official Fix for the UK XEU phones and it does fix the Voltage issue, until that is sorted they want be able to figure out what any other issues are

Now this was a Fix to fix a Fix and its not affecting Network phones

There is nothing realy Major that i have read, I'm Not running to the Hills to debrand yet

Re: Software update

@ADO28 Ha Ha Ha ok rub it it lol

But the VF branded phones are not affected by the Battery drain problem

There are some tweeks but Nothing to get excited about

This has not been even offered to Vodafone as it did not effect there rom, Thankfully

But we all got a update not so long ago.

Samsung seem to of got the update thing in some shape or form right

what has brassed every one off is they have not sorted problems that have effected every one

Thankfully Kies seems to be holding up !!!

Re: Software update

My unbranded sim free S3 is telling me there is no updated software available

My current version is Android 4.0.4 baseband I9300XXLF2

Is this the latest version of the OS?

Re: Software update

Oh well. With all the excitement about the Jelly Beans on the way (this side of xmas?) I maybe got carried away a bit. However there will prob be many threads asking when it will come before it is rolled out :smileytongue:

Anyway, I hope the update being referred to here does fix some things people have been having problems with. I am happy enough with mine as it is excpet for the branding which I can easily fix any time I want in fairness.

I see no OTA update and kies shows I am up to date so I don't know which update people might be seeing other than the one I thought of at first.

There was no software update when I looked in the phone settings so I installed Kies and instantly there was an update so I went ahead with it. The firmware is also on sammobile if you wish to flash it manually :smileyhappy:
