Straight to the point - Crapware

How loaded is it going to be Vodafone?

I can get an iPhone 4S as a free upgrade, sell it and buy a Sim free S3 with the cash if needs be, but I quite fancy the 32GB S3 and don't know how much they are as yet.

Can also sell my S2 if needed.

Re: Straight to the point - Crapware

[ Edited ]

There is not a lot of it, The S2 just had a update and it has the My Vodafone app Music and check out apps and that's it

But you will find the First batch will be stock!!!

mainly as Samsung have already made the phones this will no dout be done laters as Vodafone are not aloud to brake the seal

How ever  Vodafone have learnt there lesson thankfully and removed junkware sutch as game demos

The only stuff that they put on is there own Apps

They do How ever remove American stuff sutch as AP News, which has caused Problems in the past

I would wait and see until you get your Phone you might have a nice supprise!!!

Re: Straight to the point - Crapware

NDJ is spot on here so long as your product code is XEU and not VOD and yes the early phones will most likely be stock i.e.. Samsung as they left the factory. If, further down the line the phones are bloated then there is plenty of help and advice here on how to remove it. I very much doubt that VF will bloat these phones after the fiasco of the HTC and S1.

Re: Straight to the point - Crapware

Just to pop on and make this clear, whilst there have been occasions in the past where early despatch handsets have been unbranded, there's no guarantee this will be the case with any launch, so please don't expect that to be the case.

Regarding customised Vodafone ROMs on handsets, this is all explained in our firmware statement. In fairness, there haven't been large discussions about dissatisfaction with our branding on the forum for a long time now. I think that reflects that the way we do things on handsets doesn't restrict the experience you get.

The benefit of us still branding handsets is that everything has been tested, approved and correctly configured to work on our network. I know that most of you on this forum know how to do that stuff for yourselves and are happy going to the manufacturer for support, but a larger majority of Vodafone customers have an expectation that we handle that kind of stuff, make sure everything works and are there to arrange repairs when things don't work as they should. It's difficult because either way there'll be a selection of people not happy with our approach, but as often mentioned on this forum, there are other options should you really not want a branded handset.

Thanks,

Tom

Re: Straight to the point - Crapware

Well said Tom

This is still one of the Good points of android

Vodafone are the Best compared to the others at getting problems Sorted

there not perfect as Most aren't

But they Have listened, The worst networks for Bloating are Orange and three they have junkware and bloatware

The Apps that are on Vodafone have listened as to what there customers wanted

As Tom said they don't effect the phone in any way

As Tom pointed out they have a Large customer base many are not Technically Minded and we have had them on here, so they have to cater for them.

Glad to see you have ordered your G3 and look forward to chatting to you on here again

when you get it nip back on and let us no how your liking the phone

Re: Straight to the point - Crapware

I recently tested the Huawei G300 as part of the Device Loan Programme.

So this phone had some of the newest Vodafone Apps on it.

To be honest most of them were really good such as "My Vodafone", which seems to update at least every 24 hours for me.

The Vodafone Music Store, I've not used it but I was impressed after browsing around, and I would certainly consider buying from there!

"App select" is just a collection of Apps that I believe you can buy through your Vodafone account? (not sure)

The G300 had some game demo's but they could easily be removed if you wanted to.

Don't forget you can always pop the Apps into a Folder out of sight. :smileywink:

I really don't have an issue with these inclusions. The "Discover" Widget is very good!

Re: Straight to the point - Crapware

I really can't see the point of this topic especially when the S3 hasn't even been released yet so we don't know what branding is on it to start with. Why have a pop at VF when Samsung already bloat the phone with their junk? If you don't want a few VF apps on it then the answer is simple, 1- buy a sim free phone or 2- flash it with a stock rom. Its really that simple or 3- flash it with a custom rom which is what I will be doing. Hopefully the S3 will get CM9!
