Re: WIFI

Could be any number of things.

From what you have said;

1) Can you confirm someone else/other phone/other device has connected to your Work's WiFi and has internet connectivity?

2) Is your work WiFi throttled - number of users?

Then there is the phone itself;

1) Have you managed to connect to another WiFi network?

2) Do you have internet connectivity via Vodafone's Data connection ? Just to prove that you can access.

More troubleshooting ideas to follow...

Re: WIFI

Well I think I will wait and see if you can connect to another WiFi network as it may be that the phone that is the problem - though to be honest not sure why that would be?

Re: WIFI

Your work may be blocking your mac address of your phone

does the phone see the network ok ?

Does it say Obtaining a IP address if it does what happens

You can set a statick IP address through add a network i would use the same infomation as you Galaxy s but you would need to no the Subnet Mask of your network, when finish before you connect turn your S Off

The reason is your taking the Ip address

Now click connet

If all is well your connected if not turn your Galaxy s back on and see if its IP Address has changed this tests wheater there is spare wifi slots on your companys router.

Now if the S does not connect its becauses the S3 has the IP address if so Turn the S off and do a scan and this time as there is a spare IP address the S3 will grab it, this time connect you

Some companies have limited wifi slots some times its better to put a separate wifi router in

If the phone can not get a IP address then it will not work

Now there is one other is click Advanced and make sure the Wifi Freq is set to Auto

Can you also find out any info on The router eg what MBPS it is what Freq band it is eg band g or N

Facebook via the brouser is down i think they might of stopped it

Are thease app's that are working and not via the brouser ?

is the Playstore working ?

when you open the brouser type in the address bar www.google.co.uk

and see if that works

Re: WIFI

It's still possible your router at work

Try downloading another brouser like Opera and try that

This could be the brouser app if the other brousers work if it is the brouser a factory rest will sort that but try at home

what does the brouser say via 3g doies it work ?

Hi NDJ,

Its seems ok at home, but i did notice that both the wifi and the mobile data icon are lit up at the top, i am assuming both should not be lit up and if i disable the data one it still works, on wifi.  Might have to watch that, will see if its makes a diference on the wifi at work tomorrow.

Just tested this on my phone at home with my own wifi. and got both the standard version and mobile version of face book working fine using the default browser.

Just one thought on the subject. Does your company's wifi need an extra login via an online portal for example?

Re: WIFI

You need to speak to your IT your network may consider your mac as a Non authorised

and put a block on it clearly and thanfully the phone is fine

whats probs happend is the IP address need looking at

But ttrust me mot IT Guys use Iphones as there not complicated so there may be some resitance to doing any thing

It will not work we had problems with Netgear routers this is why Virgin ditched them going to D-link

The Galaxy s had problems, You can get a cheap router no £20 that works fine but that is your problem

Ne routers now have firmware, so they can be updated so a upgrade of router will sort this

Re: WIFI

Not the same problem but very similiar.  i was unable to match the phone to my car when i went out to sort out the phone in the car.  at the same time, i was unable to log on to my wifi at home [work was fine].  a simple reboot sorted me out and the phone picked up eveyrthing then.
