Weather App

Hi

Does anyone know how I can get the weather app to automatically update on my S3? I have set it to auto refresh every hour but this does not seem to work.

Re: Weather App

HI Bij

My weather app seems to be okay.  I have mine updating every hour and have the Enable current location setting ticked. I also set up another city - I am not sure if that affects it at all.

Re: Weather App

Probably a silly question - is your mobile network always on? Also location services needs to be enabled so system can read your current location and update. I have set mine off to conserve battery life and as a consequence, I find mine too does not auto refresh as per settings.

Re: Weather App

There is a known bug with the app that was fixed in a recent update apparently although I am still waiting on this update being pushed out.

You can get credit for solving your own queries?

I will be up to mentor level 100 in no time now :smileytongue:

btw, I did mean to post on this thread having had the benefit of turning on the hourly updates and giving it a while. May as well add now that it did indeed work properly on my phone :smileyhappy:

Re: Weather App

Haha thanks 1daniel.

I think the problem is back though. I had to restart my phones yesterday and now the app does not refresh automatically again??

Re: Weather App

HI Bij - I was hoping that the problem had been resolved.  Please just double check that the Auto Refresh option is still ticked?  Just a thought, do you have more than one city set up for weather?

Re: Weather App

Hi drey_p,

I was hoping the problem was solved too. It was working fine until i had to restart my phone.

Just check to make sure that the Auto Refresh is still ticked and it is.

I don't have more than one city set.

Re: Weather App

Do you have enable current location ticked? Also GPS enabled?

It followed me around the Country the other day, refreshed and changed location every hour as per the settings.

Re: Weather App

Bij - could you add another nearby city and then do a manual refresh when you have both cities in the list.  Then leave it to update by itself.  You'll be able to see which one has updated by swiping up or down on the widget in your home screen. I am wondering if there is something to do with the location service that is messing up and preventing the update from happening.

Re: Weather App

Have you tried deleting all the locations in the weather Widget, then remove the widget from the desktop.

Manually Sync your Samsung Dive account and also the Google account. ( just in case any settings are auto retrieved ?)

Turn the phone off and back on (again to make sure processes are reset)

Now add the weather widget to the Home screen and configure the settings.

Does it work now...?

Re: Weather App

Hi drey_p and thesoupdragon,

I have tried both your suggestions.

The app started working for me based on thesoupdragon's suggestion. However it has stopped again. Not sure why???
