Re: placing order for the SGS3 ?

dazz,

3rd party sites offer phone and contract as separate components hence why sometimes they dont offer as many or as good tariffs as you get direct from network. of course the flip side to that is sometimes they can offer better deals, rarely though.

Re: placing order for the SGS3 ?

Rarely ? Vodafone has the HTC one x free starting on a £36 a month contract despite it being easily found available for £26 - £30 . So take it Vodafone will have deals around the £30 mark for the s3 then will they ? I suppose we'll see how competitive Vodafone are when they come out but I bet you im proved correct

Re: placing order for the SGS3 ?

Really hope there are some good offers. Got two contracts with Vodafone (over 5 years, probably longer) which are due an upgrade soon. Hopefully it'll be competitive with the other offers!

Re: placing order for the SGS3 ?

My upgrade has been available since March but I've held out to get this phone.

I want to pre-order the upgrade to ensure I get it ASAP, but if vodafone keep waiting, I will have to do it through a third party like phones4you!!

Hurry up!!

Re: placing order for the SGS3 ?

My contract expired last year and my HTC Desire is getting a little unreliable, so I have my fingers crossed for a good 18month deal.

If you get a quote for the 32GB SIM Free let me know. Currently the 16GB models are going for £495.

I'd take a guess the 32 will go for around £100 more, much like the iPhone pricing.

Re: placing order for the SGS3 ?

Nabs,

I hope your wrogn with the pricing. 16GB of surface mount memory does not warrant an extra £100 price hike.

Infact i know of places where you can pick up that amount of memory for well under £50 as a single chip, let alone the millions that samsung are buying in.. to them its an extra £0.10 if that to produce

Re: placing order for the SGS3 ?

Adam,

I toatlly agree with you, £100 is ridiculous!

To be honest I hope im wrong as well, but its the way Apple work on the iPhone and people pay it so from a business perspective Samsung may as well try it the same way. Worst case the price gets cut and they lose a bit of profit on it.

The way i'm seeing it you can pick up a 16GB class 10 microSD for around £20 (samsung branded as well, just coincidence). If the price difference is much more than the cost of the card then in my eyes it aint really worth doing.

Re: placing order for the SGS3 ?

Nabs.

again yes you are correct. I hope that Samsung can see not all of us where 'WOWED' by their special event, infact im a little dissapointed with the SGS3, but i need a new phone so its the best phone at the moment... i was hoping it would be better.

Anywho, back on to 'memory'. I dont think getting the 32GB phone really will be any use.. the phone will take a 64 GB class 10 micro SD and you can pick them up for about £100,

32GB seem much more resonable at £32 which is a samsung card too!

I hope Samsung realise that we are not an ipap heard of sheep who follow the same phone year after year due to minor upgrades. in all honesty, if the SGS3 didnt have such a good DAC in it, battery and memory expansion i would have gone with the HTC one X.

Iphone heard  - i mean bunch of sheep wanting to buy the latest tat at a stupid price from steve jobs / apple might think their itat is great, but in all honesty they are utter rubbish & well over priced.

Re: placing order for the SGS3 ?

Saw an advert for 3 in the Metro today; 24month, no up front cost, unlimited data £34.00 per month. Not sure what the minutes/text situation was though but seems a good price, albeit a rubbish network (where I am anyway!)

Re: placing order for the SGS3 ?

£36 a month seems to be the adverage deal at the mo, just remember just because it's a new phone you don't want to regret signing up to something your not happy with just to get the phone there is a deal to be done here. if its not right say so or walk away
also remember to make sure they have a cool off period so if you don't like the phone you can cancel

Re: placing order for the SGS3 ?

well, the front page has changed, saying the SGS3 is pre-order from tomorrow :smileyhappy:. also states that if you pre-order you will get a 'special deal'.

Roll on tomorrow to see what the eforum team can give us in terms of a deal.

Re: placing order for the SGS3 ?

Well I ordered my new S3 the day after the launch. As usuall Vodafone had nothing up on their site about it and their call centre staff knew nothing either when I called so instead I went straight to CPW and pre ordered it which is what I should have done straight away as I probably would have managed to bag a tab at the same time. CPW have chucked in a 32gb card, screen cover and car charger (as standard) so I guess thats good of them. I have also ordered and recieved my new case and pen for it which I ordered on ebay lol

Re: placing order for the SGS3 ?

But that will be in the 16Gb Internal Memory variant only. For the first month only, Vodafone supposedly have exclusive deal with Samsung on the 32Gb version - not 100% sure on what is happening with the 64Gb version?

So tomorrow could be an interesting day to see what the charges are for the 32Gb version and any extras that are being thrown in to sweeten the deal.

I have just come out of contract after deciding to wait after the One X was released, quite pleased I did so - 'Power to Me!'

Re: placing order for the SGS3 ?

Hi Boyce, the 32gb does sound very good however I have never filled the 8gb SGS yet and I've had that for nearly 2 years. I always tend to save and run things off my expansion card due to the amount of flashing I do with these phones lol
