Again i'm with soup on this, you had 7 days to try the service before you bought, and try it in the areas that you will be using it in. You didn't cancel it and so you have effectively signed a two year contract for vf to supply you with their service. If their service isn't good enough for you then that is not for them to worry about, you had your trial period. If their service has become worse since you 'signed' then you would have a point, but it is more than likely the service that you accepted when your seven days ran out, and would be hard to prove otherwise. I'm not defending vf, i'm worried that you will do something you may regret. I'm also getting a poorer signal with my phone since i traded in my htc desire, but i know that the other networks can offer almost no signal where i spend a good deal of my time outside the house. I have a poorer signal inside my house than on the desire also but have not suffered from any dropped calls, and i was only getting 2g signal on the desire. Perhaps you should consider the sure signal option as you are stuck on this contract unless vf decide otherwise. I'm sure that they will do what they can for you, but if you keep making these demands and threats of cancellation when you have no right to, i feel that they may be less helpful than they could be. I wish you luck, and hope it all works out for you. I won't be posting on this thread gain as i have said all i can.

I see your points and the service has got worse over the last few weeks which has already been highlighted on the network board by someone else who lives in my area. I hope VF can do something about it too but I'm certainly not going to be paying for a service that is limited. I will negotiate with them and have already raised my points with technical then got cut off when I told them that its not a fault with the phone. Money isn't the issue here but I'm not going to pay full whack to buy myself out of a contract when all I want is a decent signal and internet access which is what I'm currently paying for. I have been raising my points for a couple of days on this subject now and not 1 moderator or anyone from VF has made contact with me personally yet and the moderators do read this but they must draw straws on who decides to deal with it. Hopefully someone will draw the straw and we can start to enter a private discussion re this matter with a view to getting it resolved asap.

Re: samsung galaxy s3 signal

Hi ado28,

We'll need to take a closer look at the account, as well as the fact that you say signal as got worse in the area recently, in order to see how we can proceed.

So we can do that, I'm sending you a PM to get your details. Please follow the directions in there for me so we can get to your account and discuss this via a secure, private channel.

You can find your PM inbox here. If you can't access this link, please ensure that the box next to "Turn on private messages" is ticked on this page, and let us know if you need any further assistance.

Dave

Re: samsung galaxy s3 signal

Hi dowsinho,

Apologies, I missed your post when responding to ado28.

I tried to call but couldn't reach you, so I left a message. If you do need our help with what has been discussed with customer services, then, as mentioned on the voicemail, ensure there is no gap in the code we advised to enter in the subject line, because the automated email system won't recognise if you put a space before the "135". I notice that your recent emails had one and had gone to customer services, so I just wanted to help with this from hereon out.

Dave

If I've helped at all today, why not leave me a little feedback?

Re: samsung galaxy s3 signal

[ Edited ]

Ok guys so I went into Vodafone in Poole (Dorset) today to try and find out what was going on.

I found the idiot with the Tech Badge on and this is basically how the conversation went.

Me: Hello could you tell me why my sons £50 phone from Argos on £10 per month Tesco pay as you go has better signal than my £500 S3 on £41 per month Voda contract ??

Idiot: its becoz of the olympics mate.

Me: How do you figure that ?

Idiot: Mast upgrades mate.

Me: which masts are effected ?

Idiot: dont know mate just know in this area they are.

Me: When will they be working again ?

Idiot: laughs and says for the olympics mate.

Me: So any suggestions about what I do ?

Idiot: Turn your data services off mate.

Me: Thats it ? Thats your best suggestion ?

Idiot: Yep, thats what customer services have told us to say.

Congratulations Vodafone on possibly the worst Customer services ever....######

Re: samsung galaxy s3 signal

Seems perfectly reasonable that the olympics would lead to an upgrade on the masts in Dorset. Lol.

Wish they were holding the Olympics in West Lothian then but at least I should get a signal when I'm down in London when I'm working for the Olympics :smileymad:

Re: samsung galaxy s3 signal

Hi

I've been following this thread for the last week or so.  I currently don't have an S3 but really want one, but I have doubts about the signal I would receive as I do live in a relatively rural area.  Having said that my trusty Nokia N900 has been great, in terms of signal, for the past 2 years and my Nokia N95 before that.

Could anyone point me in the direction of the terms and conditions for this 7 day trial period?  For instance, if i take up a S3 contract but want to return it within 7 days can I just go back to my current tariff and stick with my N900 ?

Thanks

Re: samsung galaxy s3 signal

it is important that you know your rights during the 7 day period, but remember that this forum is like a goldfish bowl - everyone is here because they have a problem.

I'm sure that Vodafone have sold tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of S3s and the vsast majority of users will be perfectly happy. I'm in the happy camp and can report that the S3 is just as good, if not better than any other phone I have had.

All smart phones have threads that regularly say:

Battery life is terrible

Signal is terrible

Why don't I have the latest update

They then get the update and the threads either say:

The latest update killed my battery

The latest update has killed my signal

etc etc etc

Poor Mobile Internet Signal

Hi there,

I've recently got a Galaxy SIII and previosuly had a HTC Desire. With the Desire I could recieve a very good mobile internet connection in most places. As of yet with the SIII, it's not been able to successfully load a page, anywhere. Any idea how to resolve/improve this? Not much point in paying for a 2gb limit when I can't use it!?

Re: Poor Mobile Internet Signal

Is your Mobile data turned on?

If not you can turn it on in settings > Data usage > Mobile data . Or you can swipe downwards from the top to reveal another menubar at the top and you can scroll left to right on there to find the option for Mobile Data.

Re: Poor Mobile Internet Signal

It is most certainly turned on.

My signal goes no higher than G (If i'm lucky) where as my HTC was near enough always on H.

Re: Poor Mobile Internet Signal

This morning I received an email back from James, Thank you, however in his message he has said that there's nothing VF can do and advised me to turn my phone on to 2G to conserve my battery. This isn't what I would call sound advice for a smart phone! I called 191 and got through to cancellations who weren't much help either and they basically apologized for their signal coverage. If I want to buy myself out of the contract its going to cost me £663 to do so. I offered them £500 to which they refused. My next call was to Carphonewarehouse to let them know of my displeasure with VF and they too apologies as they sold the contract on VF's behalf (apparently this is a very common complaint!) so my next stop is now Mr Guy Laurence the CEO of Vodafone UK. I have been very polite and pleasant to everyone I have spoken to over the phone but I must stress that my patients are starting to wear thin now. I would have thought that VF would rather take a hit on £163 over £663. I don't want to have this farce dragging on too long so hopefully common sense will prevail.

I echo your words. I have been running giffgaff on my S3 which is O2 for about a week now and the performance is like night and day. Today I started work at 09:30 and spent most of it in the office so I spent a lot of time on facebook and the classic cars forums i'm a member of  I attended a breakdown and had to sit with a stricken bus for 2 hours so I watched the news for a wee while on BBC iplayer via 3G or im my giffgaffs case H+ and returned home at 6pm with 69% of power left in my battery. On a normal day with the VF sim card in my phone and without using the phone much I would usually come home with my battery at or around the 39% mark and that would be with light useage, mostly calls and texts. My signal booms with the giffgaff but I just wish it boomed with the VF sim card as I have a decent package with VF but sadly I cant use it they way its meant to be used. Theres no point in having an all singing and all dancing phone if your carrier restricts its potential use with a poor signal quality......

Re: Poor Mobile Internet Signal

Hi guys,

ado28If your query now lies with the directors office then my team are unable to intervene for now. I'm sure you can appreciate that the request you're making is not something that we can action nor authorise from here. Should you require assistance with this matter in future, please refer to the contact details that the Customer Relations team will supply you with.

dowsinho - as mentioned in my post here, handset signal strength can vary from model to model just like other features such as battery life. If you're within your 7 day cooling off period and you wish to swap to a different device make or model, please call 191 as soon as possible. They'll be happy to set up an exchange or return. :smileyhappy:

Cheers, Ben
