My contract is up, my S3 is working fine but I fancy a new gadget :smileywink:

so my question is should I go for an S5 I can get one with 4G for what I pay now

or should I wait a few months and go for the S6?

The S5 came out in April, I doubt any S6 will be before April 2015.

Personally I find the upgrades say between S2 to 3 to 4 to 5 etc to be tweaks rather than major changes.

Go from S2 to S5 then yes probably worth it, but S4 to S5 not convinced.

I read that the S6 might be out early, something to do with slow sales

Tha halfway house would be to wait until a few details of the S6 get leaked and then decide whether it has that killer feature you can't live without or whether the lower price of the mid-term current version is more attractive.

The Note 4 looks like a killer device, perhaps even the Note Edge, now that does look good!

I just started reading about the note 4 and yes it looks very good, but the idea of a S5 at a good price also works for me, I will keep reading

I dont see any advantage in just keeping the same phone when its upgrade time.  If your not sold on the S5 than consider the ip6 and at least you will be in sync with Apples upgrade cycle

thanks steveo67

I have a hate of iphones, they are far to restrictive, I can't see me moving from Samsung unless I am missing out

anyone got a view on the S5, I like the build quality and being waterproof is a bonus as I spend a lot of my time around water

Hi steveq

I have the S5 after having had the S4 and the S3 before that.  The S5 isn't really a huge jump from the S4 or S3 TBH.  Don't get me wrong, the S5 is a good phone and I love the large screen and I think you would notice a difference coming from the S3.

Just a thought, have you considered the Sony Xperia Z3 which is due to launch soon?  It is a sexy looking phone, runs Android and is waterproof as well as having a great camera.  It could be a possible handset for you

I would personally move over to a 30 day SIM Only deal. That way if a new handset has been launched that you are keen on, you can upgrade easily and as long as your S3 continues to work, you could be saving a bit of money.

Like the idea of a sim only deal, and off to have a look at the Xperia Z3

This is what I need in my phone

A big screen

A great camera

A good battery life

Waterproof

Strong, I like the Samsung as the glass screen is as tough as old boots
