2.2.1

Hi, connected my galaxy s to kies this morning, came up with firmware upgrade available. Upgraded, now showing 2.2.1 installed.

Phone not rooted/tampered with in any way.. Seems to be working OK. Seems quicker and smoother, was quite good anyway, email seems much better, did have lag problems with emails.

Hi 63johnw,

Can you confirm if there is any Bloatware, i.e. Vodafone 360 apps.

Is there a Vodafone Splash screen at start up?

To all eForum members about to upgrade via Kies.

Follow this procedure for a trouble free upgrade:

Back up all your Media

Make a written note of your apps

Format your internal and external SD Card

Perform a Factory reset and log into Google account

Now connect to Kies

Upgrade to 2.2.1

Perform a Factory Reset

Format the SD card/s again

Log into Google account

Fresh install of apps from Market

This will give you an absolutely trouble free installation. Ignore this at your peril.

Re: 2.2.1

Beter late then never might have somthing to do with the bad press again over networks holding updates back google is calling a meeting to its providers about the last virus scare, google had addressed this and sent 2.2.2 out hence the report on there blog saying people with 2.2.2 and over are not afected. They got inundated with complaints saying that some had not even got 2.2.1 yet. Now some older phones can not be updated cos of spec. But the new devices can the last update was 2.2 the next is 2.3 but in the middle are service updates, patches and any tweeking that needs doing hence why we got 2.2.1 but were is 2.2.2 there on about. Google are asking question which could be a good thing might sort this out. We might get 2.3 quicker now. Strange there is no coment from vodafone yet i bet 1:30 they will say somthing.

Re: 2.2.1

Good Morning All.  1st Post

Connected to Kies earlier today and 2.2.1 showed up.

Tried the upgrade ....using the Kies back up, but it froze halfway through.

Anyway tried again without doing back-up and had no problems updating.

Email is much faster, noticing a big improvement. Phone also seems a bit faster but early days.

Lost my Internet Favourites but not the folders containing them and had to reset my daily briefing screen.

That aside everything else seems fine.

Bring on 2.3

Re: 2.2.1

Hi Froncy,

Welcome to the eForum. :smileyhappy:

Did you follow my recommendation further up the thread HERE

If not I strongly recommend you back up all the media on your phone.

Follow the instruction to format the sd card and do a Factory Reset.

After an Upgrade some system settings can remain from the previous Firmware.

Over time this can cause conflicts and errors.

Don't be a stranger here!

Re: 2.2.1

tsd,

....didn't do back-up, thinking it was a relatively minor update.

However, will certainly follow your advice when Gingerbread makes its grand entrance.

Cheers!

Re: 2.2.1

Hi dili, 2.2.1 is a pretty good firmware and a good bit snappier than JP7/ 2.2.1 which was probably the version you were on before :smileyhappy:

Hi bods, What is your product code displaying. To find this out type in *#272*then your imei number# ? with regards to backing up your games you can download Titanium from the market but its best to get the paid version as this will install all your data automatically, the free version makes you reinstall each and every app indicadually.
