Re: 2.2.1

yes, normal 2.2.1 behaviour after a factory reset,or upgrade. it settles back to 100% after the battery settles down again.

I have noticed since the upgrade & factory wipe that when the phone says the battery is fully charged & it is then unplugged the charge % drops from 100% to between 96-98% immediately? I am running a battery monitor?

It's not so much a fault with the phone, but rather the way the Phone manages the Lithium ion battery.

Li batteries are designed to be charged multiple times from any state of drain. In other words, old batteries, you had to drain completely then charge to full, or they would develope a "memory", and only partially charge.

The Li battery does not have this "memory" problem.

If you over charge a Li battery it can degrade performance, which is why the phone tells you to unplug once it is full.

Also if you constantly run the battery to empty, this can also affect performance.

The reason the phone drops to 98% straight away is due to battery management. It is done to protect the Li cell.

However, after Flashing a new Rom, such as your upgrade through Kies. It is recommended to Calibrate the battery.

Many articles have been written about fancy ways of multiple charges and drains, clicking your heels 3 times, etc. etc.

The main point is basically this, the phone's Battery management needs to read a Full charge and also a Empty (phone turns itself off) state.

This reason for this, is for a more accurate battery estimation by the system. This will not get rid of the 100% - 98% scenario, as I have explained above.

For me, when I flash a new Rom, I start with a Full battery, I then Flash the Rom and set the phone up to my liking.

Now I charge the phone till it beeps, battery full. Then I use the phone as normal until it turns itself off.

If I can I'll charge to full with the phone off, but if I have to use it, well then I use it.

You can read about Lithium ion batteries on wikipedia.

It's not an exact science and everyone has their own opinion. This is just mine!

Hope it helps.
