Blue Flashing LED light help

Hi. Recently upgraded to S3 and I seem to be having a slight problem. Everytime I receive an email I get a blue flashing LED light from the phone. This is not a problem during the day, however at night in a dark room the light is very bright. Not good when receiving email in the early hours!

In the LED settings I have unticked all 3 boxes but I still get this blue flashing light.

Any ideas on how to turn this light off??

Thanks in advance!

Re: Blue Flashing LED light help

I know this might sound basic but try turning the phone off and back on then check all settings are in off position then see if it still happens ?

Re: Blue Flashing LED light help

Just to quickly test, I sent an email to my gmail account after changing the following setting: Settings -> LED Indicator -> Missed Event (to off).

I got the email notification sound, but no Blue LED flashing - though I didn't wait more than 1 minute to clear the email. Is there a timer after the initial delay?

Well, not to be beaten, I then turned the Missed Event back on and then sent another email to test.

Lo and behold the notification sound and then about 3-5 seconds later the blue light starts to flash. It appears that frequency of the flash does quicken over time until it becomes a solid blue light (or is that just me?)

Re: Blue Flashing LED light help

Have just tried un-ticking, ticking boxes and various restarts and still everytime an email is received if the phone is untouched a blue LED light flashes every 4-5 seconds.

Is anyone else experiencing this or is this a one off case?

Re: Blue Flashing LED light help

Would you believe such a small thing causes such problems

You will find that as this is a new thing on the phone, third party apps will have problems

This is why they have its own settings menu

As paddy mcguinness says NO Liky NO Lighty

You will find as Develeoper know its there they will use it more

Re: Blue Flashing LED light help

Hi guys,

I just though I'd chip in with my input here - I've got the Galaxy S III 32GB in white and I get the flashing blue LED for missed events regardless of whether it's ticked or not :smileywink:

It looks like something that's generic across the handsets rather than just specific to one in particular so I've passed it on to our SIII specialists to investigate.

If you're experiencing this issue, can you post on here with your firmware versions so that we can raise a case for a fix?

You can retrieve your firmware version by dialling *#1234# :smileyhappy:

Re: Blue Flashing LED light help

Blue Galaxy 32Gb

Firmware info;

AP: I9300BUALF1

CP: I9300BULF1

CSC: I9300VFGALF1

So it seems that I have Vodafone OS on my phone, but then again for me the LED Indicator -> Missed event works correctly for me!

I am just wondering if it is a combination of other system settings/synhronisations that could be the issue?

[ Edited ]
Two solutions:

1. Turn the phone face-down. :smileywink:

2. Install Lite Flow which allows you to completely replace the standard LED notification system and includes config for a sleep period, so you can have the LED notification turn off during a certain timespan. The pro version (50p! :smileyvery-happy:) of Lite Flow allows you to configure the colour, frequency and other properties of notifications for all apps - e.g., facebook etc.

Re: Blue Flashing LED light help

Just to let you know that the paid version costs £1.49.

Good find though and the lite (free) version will help most people. Kudos!

Re: Blue Flashing LED light help

Hi everyone,

So that our devices team can look into this can you please download ‘atrack dog’. Within this there is an export option that will export a file that shows all the apps on your phone. Using this information our devices team can then investigate to see if any 3rd party app is causing the issue.

Thanks

Wayne

Re: Blue Flashing LED light help

My phone is 16Gb Blue s3. Firmware details:

AP: I9300BUALF1

CP: I9300BULF1

CSC: I9300VFGALF1

I'm pretty sure this fault has been on the phone since it came out of the box. I carried out the firmware update that was available hoping it would solve it, but it did not.

Fingers crossed that a solution can be found.
