Re: Custom Roms

Dont know if that is really possible as individual tastes vary, and its not just the particular rom but the theme that you use with it if you want to choose a theme.

I have used 5 customs roms, I know which one I like best, and which one I liked least, and the rest are kinda similar. But it could all change in an instant as these rom developers are always looking to improve.

Re: Custom Roms

Jim's pretty much spot on here. Custom roms = custom themes and you can have any combination of them just about. Like Jim says it would be extremely hard to put a rom list in a top ten scenario. I enjoy custom roms and although some roms are better than others it would be totally unfair to put them in any sort of order. the guys who develop these roms are just like you and I and it would be totally unfair to say that their rom is pants lol. Some folk prefer speed but this usually comes at a price which is battery drain while others (like slim Jim) prefer roms with the bare basics that is free from unnecessary stock apps.

For me at this present moment in time I prefer Doc's rom which gives YOU total control of what apps, kernels, start up screens, themes etc you want on your handset. It's well worth checking out http://www.romkitchen.org/

Go on have a flash, you know you want to lol :smileytongue:

Re: Custom Roms

One thing i have notice is in the app draw you can edit it in the standard one i have all my games on one page i have trid all the launchers from adw and launcher pro, But the app draw all seem to be the scroll down even if you put in to samsung mode. I wonder what will come from samsung yes i am impressed with darkys rom but the app draw is alphabetical but as for looks it does look very nice.

Re: Custom Roms

@NDJ, yes with the scroll down list it goes in alphabetical order, which I like, but you could have all your games which are on 1 page into a folder on one of the homescreens if you wished and call it Games Folder for example.

Re: Custom Roms

Are you thinking about going down the custom route now Ndj? lots of advantages with the custom roms and you can create some cracking looking roms with super cool themes bolted on.

Every time I show my fellow Galaxy S mates my phone it's different lol If you do decide to go down the custom rom road you can back up your current rom so if you don't like it you just reflash your original rom back on and it will be restored to the exact same time together with all your apps and settings from when you last backed it up!

Just about to have a go at Darky's 9.2 Extreme Edition.

I have applied Root and ClockworkMod Recovery.

I have downloaded Darky's Rom Configurator.

Any Tips or Tricks I need to Know?

I would go for the 9.3 beta Soup. Just follow Darky's instructions and you will be fine :smileyhappy:

I ment 9.3 beta but 9.2 is ok. I found it a bit hard on the battery but in all fairness I didn't give it much of a chance and went in to the Kitchen and picked my own rom lol :smileyhappy:
