Re: Custom Roms

Hi Bods

Just disable the Two Lagfix options by going into Recovery mode or you may be able to do it from the DarkyRom Tool.

Then copy the CM7.1 zip onto the internal SDcard.

Reboot into recovery and choose install from zip.

You will also need Gapps (google apps)

Download CM7.1 Stable

Latest Gapps Download

Re: Custom Roms

Personally I would start a fresh with CM7 and stay away from the stable version and use the nightlies instead. If I were you this would be my procedure

  1. Back up what you want to keep i.e contacts/ photos
  2. Make a written note of your apps or back up with Titanium
  3. Back up your titanium on a pc or your external sd card along with your contacts
  4. Factory data reset and format internal sd card
  5. Flash with EZ Base

Once booted back up and providing you have the paid version of clockwork you can install CM7 via clockwork by doing the following steps

In clockwork touch

  1. Flash ClockworkMod Recovery
  2. Touch Samsung GalaxyS i9000 (MTD)
  3. Touch ClockworkMod 3.x
  4. Touch download a rom
  5. Touch CyanogenMod Nightlies
  6. Choose the latest rom
  7. Once downloaded and installed touch Download Rom again and choose google apps and flash through with clockwork

By formatting the phone and factory data resetting it you will give CM7 the best chance of working first time on your phone without any problems

Re: Custom Roms

just thought i'd let you know how i got on,

i initially tried to flash as TSD explained, got loads of FC's and couldnt use the phone, so i flashed with one of ficeto's bases (couldnt get to the ezbase site) with odin, formatted the interanl sd card and then reflashed cyanogen through recovery

all good now, glad i made the jump much better than what i was on before.

Thanks for your help

Root and flash CM7

Hey guys...

Sorry to start a new thread with the same old question but doing a search has brought up a load of different answers and I've been out of the loop recently so thought it best just to get some confirmation!!!

I've just received my replacement Galaxy S - on Eclair xxjm1, 2.1update(?) - and I want to get CM7 on it as quick as possible!!! Trouble is, I can no longer find the instructions for EZBase and my 3 button combo doesn't work.

I already have the latest CM7 file but just need a pointer in the right direction for all the rest....

Hope someone can help!

Thanks

Re: Root and flash CM7

Cheers mate but I tried that last night.... the trouble is the flash with ezbase didn't work and the old link to the ezbase instructions no longer works so I don't know if I did it right. Also, don't you have to be in download mode to use it? If so, that's my main problem because the 3 button combo wont work. Last night I ordered a jig from ebay so hopefully that will work but if you can offer anything that will sort it in the mean time it would be mucho appreciated! Steve

Re: Root and flash CM7

[ Edited ]

While you're waiting for your jig to turn up, try this Odin Method.

I can't guarantee it will work?

1. Make sure Kies is not open or minimised to task bar.

2. Open Odin

3. Connect the phone to your PC with phone on! (try with phone off as well)

4. Press Vol Down + Home + Power

5. Hold for 8-10 seconds

Hopefully the phone will reboot, flash the Galaxy S screen, then enter Download mode.

I can't test this as the 3 button combo already works on mine!

Let us know if it works...

Re: Root and flash CM7

OK, will try that when I get home from work... thanks It is weird though because I remember fixing a mates 3 button issue when he first got his galaxy but I can't remember for the life of me how I did it!! Also, every link I follow now that says hazard fix, the page IA no longer available.... very frustarting!!!!

Re: Root and flash CM7

Yeah I've been looking as well. I think this problem was mainly on Eclair and FroYo, and of course most people are on Gingerbread now!
Strange that your replacement had such an old firmware on it?

Hi Suds, I will dig out my boot loaders and send you a link. You will need to access download mode to install the boot loaders. I have had to flash 3 phones with the boot loader file for work friends.

Re: Root and flash CM7

Froyo and Gingerbread boot loaders. Put the file in the PDA field and flash with Odin. This will install your 3 button recovery and download mode. Download the file here

Re: Root and flash CM7

The link says that the file is not available, it has the title but the size is 0.00mb and won't allow me to download it.

Re: Root and flash CM7

Ok, I managed to download the bootloaders (many thanks Ado) but unfortunately the flash didnt work for some reason (because I wasn't in download mode??)

Seems like I'm gonna have to wait for that jig to arrive.

P.s - @ Soup - No luck either but thanks for the suggestion.
