Do you have a hardware problem? If not, why do you want to send your phone away? Just flash a Stock Firmware and see if your issues disappear!

Yeah, basically my phone got stolen a while ago and the insurance company replaced it with what i presume to be a 'not brand new' handset. Since then my calls have been dropping like crazy, I have no signal at all where I used to have signal and my headphones keep cutting out/crackling when listening to music.

I figured the least they could do would be to have a look at it and fix the headphone jack.

Ah yes, didn't it come with Eclair on it or something equally old?

I would flash any Stock Rom from sammobile.com this will remove Root.

Was it a VOD firmware or XEU ?

if you need a VOD rom suds I have one if you cant find it on the sammobile site, they have changed the layout and its not the best!

Thanks very much. Initially I ran into problems with the flash (don't ask me how but the phone wouldnt boot up after the flash - it got to the S screen but then went blank and vibrated and wouldnt come back on). I'm not sure if it was a bad file that I used but I'm sure ive used it before - JPY - but I did see that there was some red writing on the screen just before it rebooted thats not normally there.

Anyway, I decided to flash with EZOdin just to see if anything would work and it did so then I used a different JPY.tar file that I had in my folder and tried again. Luckily this time it worked and the relief set in!! lol, mind you... I was 2 minutes late at the post office for the phone to be sent today so now it goes on monday instead... BUMMER!

I wiped my phone this morning and installed  teamhacksung's CM9 ALPHA for Galaxy S (BUILD 16).

All fine apart from having no OI File manager,it wasn't even showing the files on my SDcard. I tried build 15,that was the same so I have just flashed build 13 and everything is fine with that.

What did I do wrong???

Hi Shig

I've not installed that one yet, but remember that this is still an ALPHA build and very experimental.

You can download OI file manager or ES File Manager and that will do the same job plus more!

You didn't do anything wrong mate, the file manager has not been in there the last couple of builds.

i like to try Team ICSSGS RC4.2 on my galaxy.iam on stock vodafone firmware 2.3.6 bujv4.which is the best way to root my phone.cant find any kernals supporting my baseband version.do i need to root my phone before flashing the above ICSSGS rom.

I used this guide which rooted the phone etc then you can place the zipped rom you chose on your internal SD card then install, always do a wipe before and after flashing, hope this helps ?

Just a quick note, I know this has been mentioned by many other contributors, but before you start any flashing etc get a jig, got mine from ebay for about £3, there have been a few times where I have been unable to get into download mode and this has been a life saver, well worth the money.
