Re: CyanogenMod CM7

I seem to be the only one who's Rom Manager doesn't seem to be working properly for.

It shows me an update available, downloads and reboots, but nothing seems to change. The settings 'mod version' is still 05/19/2011 and it doesn't look like its applied the update at all.

Where is the best place to download the most recent updates so that I can put them onto the SD card for the good old fashioned way of flashing?

Also, just a side note...

Last night I went to bed at 00.15 with the battery on 74%, wifi. BT, data and gps were off and the phone was left in the clock screen.

I woke up this morning and the battery was on 69% - not bad huh?!

The trouble is it does seem to drain pretty quickly as soon as i start using wifi or data

Re: CyanogenMod CM7

I used rom manager once for the update, it didn't do it, even though it said it had.
http://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=galaxysmtd is where you will find the updates.

battery pretty good for me today on #13, 82%-67% in five hours, with normal work use (emails, tweets)

Re: CyanogenMod CM7

I'm going the route of downloading #14 on my laptop then transfer it to internal sd and use RM to flash from sd. If it doesn't work I can always flash from CWM then.

Battery drain has been horrendous today. Not even been really using the phone as much as I normally do. Wifi and sound is always off while I'm at work. Installed a task killer this morning just to see what apps were running and there are loads, which probably accounts for the battery drain. Every time I killed the apps 10 seconds later they were back even though I'd not started them. DSPManager is the worst for it, it doesn't even close and I've no idea what its use is.

Can't find any settings to tell the apps only to start when I need them to either.

Well that method didn't work! managed to get update #14 on to sd after faffing about trying to get laptop to recognise phone (rebooting the phone did it) but RM went through the motions but didn't actually flash it so went CWM instead. With faffing about included took about 10 minutes. Relatively painless compared to some other roms I've flashed.

@Thibor

I put on the Nightly #14 this evening as well. I went straight for the CWM route. I have to say it was very painless!

I am more at home with CWM anyway! :smileytongue:

No issues so far, time was correct and everything seems to be working well.

Re: CyanogenMod CM7

I am at a bit of a loss to figure out why Rom Manager is not working for you guys. For me it is working perfectly, the last 3 updates that I have flashed have all gone through RM without any problems.

I was wondering if it was anything to do with the fact that when I first went to CM the flashing process was a bit involved, using both CWM and Odin, and flashing things manually which I presume are built into the Roms now.

But then I factory wiped at the weekend and did the flash that you guys have also done so it cant be that.

Puzzled.

@Jim

Not even tried Rom Manager, I just feel more comfortable doing it manually, but it takes no time at all really!

I have changed the WiFi settings to Never Sleep and the battery life has improved, not such a steep decline!

It certainly was, well worth the Kudos :smileywink:

I have always kept WiFi on with any Rom I have been on, but I didn't know about the sleep settings :smileysurprised:

It's great to learn new things...

Not quite mate - I was asking plenty questions a long time ago - as my wife would confirm, she doent half give me the "not that bl##dy forum again!" look when she sees the VF sign on the pc.

Another good reason for a forum app......TOM......ARE YOU WATCHING!!!!!!!

Re: CyanogenMod CM7

I have a question tonight, has anyone tried one of the custom kernels yet?, like glitch.
It's something I was quite used to doing on custom roms before, so maybe I will try one or two of them over the long weekend.

Re: CyanogenMod CM7

more info ...

looks like there is some movement in the fm radio "issue"

obviously, this probably doesn't mean it's imminent, but it's a positive sign.

Have not tried one yet, but will soon.

Edit - used both glitch and platypus on MIUI
