Galaxy Nexus and Mercedes Comand

Guys

When I had my Samsung Galaxy S I was able to use the Internet built into my Mercedes Comand system. Now that I have my Galaxy Nexus I cant. I think it's something to do with the Bluetooth settings within ICS.

According to the Mercedes manual these are the conditions that are necessary for connection.

"the mobile phone supports DUN Bluetooth profile(Dial-Up Networking)and is connected to COMAND via the Bluetooth interface. The DUN Bluetooth enables the mobile phone to establish a dial-up connection to the Internet"

I tried using PDAnet and FoxFi and this is what happens. When I use PDAnet 3.50 and select Bluetooth DUN mode it takes me to Foxfi I then select Activate Bluetooth DUN and it says fail to Activate. Internet not detected.

Does anyone know what I can do.

Re: Galaxy Nexus and Mercedes Comand

Hi martydrumm,

We don't have any specific information on the interface between the handset and third party systems, but we can check a few things with the handset.

Firstly, are you able to successfully pair the Nexus with any other devices?

Secondly, are you able to access the internet with the handset alone? Can you do this from the same location?

At the time the connection via Mercedes Command fails, if you try the handset at that point, does it connect on its own? This would best show if the issue is purely down to the Bluetooth interface.

Finally for now, are you able to access any other features of the device via Mercedes Command? This will help confirm the success of the pairing generally.

Hi, yes i  have paired my Nexus with my Jambox, my galaxys and my galaxys2.

Yes I can access the internet from the handset alone, and from the same location.

Yes when it fails to conect via comand, i can then access the Internet on the handset.

I can access and make calls via the Comand system when my phone is paired to it.

As I say I think ICS doesnt support DUN settings or something else with Bluetooth, unfortunately I not that advanced when it comes to these issues.

Re: Galaxy Nexus and Mercedes Comand

Hi martydrumm

Thank you for your post and the additional information.

I have tried to connect via Bluetooth here in the office with other devices and this has been a success, however I am unable to replicate the issue you are having.

Is it possible to update the Bluetooth from your Comand system from the car?

Many Thanks

Re: Galaxy Nexus and Mercedes Comand

martydrumm,

This is unfortunatly a known issue.

On the plus side there is a workaround that does work with Mercedes Comand(see comment 101)

An app called BlueDUN seems to alllow your car system to connect through your phone.
