I thought Voda had agreed that the apps would be removable?
I have using froyo for a good few weeks and can't believe the UK versionis not out yet, what are they testing? The version i have (sweedish i think?) from Kies works perfectly are far as i can tell.

Samsung pulled all versions of Froyo and they expect to re-release Froyo next month.

Post it on vodafones facebook page.
Post it on vodafones twitter page.
Facebook and twitter reach a far higher number of people than this forum.
Vodafone use both as a promotional/marketing tool.
THOUSANDS of prospective customers read facebook and twitter every day.
Every customer lost is a blow to vodafones bloatware agenda.

I can confirm it is a lot more stable and has the following improvements, among others.
No more missed calls due to the screen being non responsive to touch.
Android market downloads happen much quicker, still get the occasional paused download etc but nowhere near the frequency I used to get them.
Not had any call ended messages yet when dialling other numbers.
No dropped calls either.
Nice Samsung startup and shutdown screens.
The phone still suffers from lag quite often, but not as bad as previously with firmware update 1.
I did notice though that despite all of the unwanted Vodafone apps seemingly gone from the Apps screen, they were still listed under Settings > Applications > Manage applications. Though they were easy to uninstall from there with no apparent issues.
Whilst I am now relatively happy that my phone is now working as good as it ever has, I'm still extremely unhappy at the way that Vodafone has continued to ignore everybody's issues. I along with numerous others were emailed by Vodafone several times early on during this fiasco, requesting certain information from before and after the update as they were supposedly investigating the matter of poor performance etc arising from the update. Where is the follow up? I've had no emails advising of any results coming back from their tech services department or from Samsung.
This is still extremely poor customer service Vodafone. A vast number of your customers have had to take matters into their own hands to resolve most if not all of the issues caused by your bloated firmware update, because you wouldn't act on it. Considering the vast majority of these issues came about because Vodafone decided they wanted to force branding and other promotional material onto their trusting, unsuspecting customer's smartphones, their response since is shocking. To show such disregard for issues your customers were/are having is utterly amazing, your response in dealing with or assisting your customers is equally dissatisfying.
A friend of mine has her Vodafone contract up for renewal imminently and has asked me what phone she should go for next, how on earth can I recommend Vodafone to her again........to be honest, based on the way this has been handled, I can't. I'm happy that my phone works again, though I'm still very unhappy at the overall Vodafone response to both myself and others.

Vodafone have also said that they are looking into ways to give you the option of uninstalling certain apps which I personally think is total bullshine. They know what and hoe do do it but they still haven't said exactly what is gonna be removable. All they are doing is buying time and leading their customers down the garden path.
What customers don't want is the bloatware, i.e naff VF start up splash screens, VF apps that can't be deleted. Not everyone is brave enough to tackle flashing of firmware and hacking their phones. Vodafone have treated their Galaxy S customers like filth and should be ashamed of themselves.
We all know the answer to VF. When it comes to the end of your contract then ditch Vodafone. If customers keep leaving then VF might just get the message. I know when my contract is due for renewal I won't be hanging around. The only way VF will keep me as a customer is if they guarantee me 100% that my next handset is 100% bloatware free. If they can't guarantee me this then its ta ta VF...

Spot on dnairb001 but if your waiting on feedback and answers from Vodafone then forget it mate. Vodafone have changed their terms and conditions and will remain silent until their amended t&c's come in to effect.
Vodafone have also said that they are looking into ways to give you the option of uninstalling certain apps which I personally think is total bullshine. They know what and hoe do do it but they still haven't said exactly what is gonna be removable. All they are doing is buying time and leading their customers down the garden path.

Hi ado28, like others I am aware of the upcoming changes to their t&c's etc. I've actively been following and supporting yourself and others on this thread since I first posted on it, right after installing their update in mid September that caused these issues. That was 6 weeks ago.
I'm just reminding them that we are all still here, still watching, listening and waiting for them to actually have the decency to accept that again they screwed up, big time, with their unwanted, bloated firmware updates. It's clear to us that them just offering a brief statement via their forum indicating that in a future update there will be an option to remove some of the unwanted apps is insufficient. We want and expect more than this, as paying, long term contracted customers we deserve better than this, much better.
While I'm still a contracted, paying customer I expect to be treated as such, with courtesy and respect. Something that still seems to be seriously lacking. I, along with others should reasonably expect ALL of our questions and issues to be dealt with and answered in a courteous and professional manner, not be ignored because we're disagreed with. I will continue to state my views until such time as I am persuaded otherwise or no longer a customer of Vodafone. I encourage and applaud others that do the same.

In other words, Froyo will come bundled with VF bloatware and it will be your responsibility to remove it.
They will not make it easy, nor transparent, you may even have to accept new T&C's if you do, foregoing warranty etc.
They will be hoping that those not aware of their dreadful policies will just give up and leave the farcical 360 store in place.
I also suspect the cretinous startup screen will be in place and un-removable.

I've done the registry hack. Thank you to all who took their time to explain how to do it. I now have a voda free phone which is running slighty quicker and doesn't fc as often. But I do have 1 question.
When using the swipe keyboard, if you swype from the swype key to the SYM key, you get the keyboard with all the arrows for moving around the text as well as a load of other options. However, since the reg hack, the arrows still appear, but all the other buttons are just grey. They still work, but there's no way of knowing what each one does. I also get the message 'open of englishuk failed' from time to time. Anybody know how to fix this? Many thanks to all.
Dan
