After moving from the Vodafone FRF91 to the Google FRG33 I am unable to download CallPod Keeper from the Android Market and still no OTA for FRG83. Anyone else with similar problems or any ideas why? Fortunately, I have all of my CallPod Keeper data stored on the desktop version, but I need to run Keeper on my Nexus One so I can Sync the data.
Have you tried the checkin method so that the phone connects with the Google servers? It could force the OTA to your phone.
Just dial the following in your phone;
*#*#2432546#*#*
You should then get a notification saying if the checkin has failed or is a success. If it is a success, the OTA update will start or you may need to go into Settings and select check for an update.
If the checkin fails then it may be a problem with the Google servers which are preventing the OTA from being sent.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I've tried the checkin and Settings method but without success. So I'll wait a bit longer to see if it is a temporary Google server problem.

I have the same problems with regards to the OTA update has not yet been received. Like you I have tried the checkin method and the system updates in settings but no such luck. I only installed the update about 15hrs ago though but it seems that those who have received 2.2.1 have done so promptly.
I haven't noticed any problems downloading apps since flashing FRG33 but I have only downloaded one since, so that's not much to go by.
As far as I'm concerned all I've actually suceeded in doing is changing the build number!
I'm also interested to know whether or not anyone got the e-mail from the 'Android team' after installing FRG33. This shows that they know I have what they consider to be a new nexus one so I see no reason why I shouldn't have received the update but patience is a virtue and I hope it is just a temporary server issue.

I got the welcome e-mail from the Android team two days ago, but still no update. I was able to download 13 previously installed applications from the Market. The only one that has failed is Keeper from CallPod who I have e-mailed and received no reply. I have also lost my CoPilot and I am still trying to get CoPilot to help me get it back.

Oh sorry: Don't forget to flash an original recovery image in the recovery partition after switching to stock android. Otherwise normal updates (update.zip and OTA) won't work.
You can take the recovery.img from the zip file from htc. Notice that you can not backup and restore anymore after that because it's a special function of the custom recovery image which is missing in the original as you know.
Some people, including myself, have not received an ota update to FRG83 after moving from Vodafone FRF91 to FRG33. Could the reason be that an original recovery image needs to be flashed to the original partition as described above. If so, can anyone explain the procedure?

Anyone know if the updates are incremental or if you could feasibly jump from 2.2 to 2.3 (skipping 2.2.1)?

I wonder if they've just stopped pushing it out? There are strong rumors that 2.3 is imminent. Could be they're preparing to push that out instead?

I certainly hope if they have stopped pushing it out that gingerbread can install directly to FRG33 otherwise I will have to start messing around doing things to the phone I didn't particularly want to do but either way I want the update before VF are going to release it.
I expect it will be another demonstration of how Vodafone can improve software that is made by Google; that being removing a few useless widgets. They did comment that they had optimised Froyo for the Vodafone network but after flashing the FRG33 file I see nothing particularly different.
I would have thought that they would continue to push out the latest update until the release date of the next one though.

I have a backup copy of the com.android.vending program from Vodafone FRF91 on my SD card. Would it be possible to use this with FRG33?

Have you tried looking around the Google forum? http://www.google.co...p/android?hl=en
Thanks for help, I'll try looking at the forum as you suggest.
I have tried a Google search using "process.com.android.vending has stopped unexpectedly" and loads of people are having the same problem on different phones going back ages. So it is not just a FRG33 problem, but non-one seems to have found an answer.

No ota update so I went here http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/android/thre
You need to rename it update.zip (remember not update.zip.zip) and put into the root of the SD card
Once done reboot your phone Vol- key +power key
choose recovery
One of the choices is use (or install) update.zip
Yes
2.2.1

Ah Ha
No ota update so I went here http://www.google.co...d145670fb&hl=en and got the OTA file (766a101ae02c.signed-passion-ota-60505.766a101a.zip)

My main reason for updating to FRG33 was to try and get future updates direct from Google, rather than delayed customised updates via Vodafone. So I am going to wait and see if I receive FRG83 or later updates ota. But thanks for providing information of how to do it manually. I would be interested to hear if anyone has done the manual update from FRG33 to FRG83 successfully and if there were any follow-up problems.

I think FRG33 is not an official Google ota update and so there may not be an update path for it from Google. So I decided to manually update to FRG83 as you describe. However, when I select recovery and hit the power button I get a triangle with an exclamation mark inside and I have to remove the battery to clear it. Can anyone help?
