the nexus one is practically the same phone just without the all amazing htc sense!

Well I was very tempted so went into a vf store at lunch, sat down, told them that I wanted the Desire.... They said my contract aint up yet so a big fat NO to me .... Walked out with my tail between my legs...

I think I might try to buy it outright, at least by the time I have saved enough for it maybe there will be a better version out.....

Try following some of the instructions on this topic, I contacted VF through here and they have put me on a list to give me a call, some people have managed to get the phone even thou there expiry date is ages away!

Extended my contract for another 18 months and kept my service plan the same as im happy with 900 minutes and unlimited data/texts

I filled in the web form last week, and I'm still waiting for my callback (the webfrom ref number was #2387391). I've been told i'm on the callback list twice now, am I actually on it? This is getting quite annoying now.

im holding out to stay with vf but i can go out today to t-mobile and get a slightly better deal and have the handset running this evening...

its getting frustrating as i've been with vf for about 10 yrs and up untill recently the customer service has been amazing, but right now i just feel as though im getting fobbed off daily...

This is apparently incorrect, its the HTC Legends that are in stock and not the Desire.

I had another reply from the web team this afternoon, (

I still have 12 months to run on my contract and all they have offered me is an addition of 18months onto the end of my contract, tying me in until November 2013!! Haha!! I roam a hell of a lot (6 months min a year) and often or not my monthly bill is about £130, a whole £95 over my base rate. They have the audacity to charge £2 a min in parts of Africa and often I only spend a couple of days on land to rack that up

I'm still trying to negotiate but I think the sim free desire from play is the best option, reduce contract etc to sim only next April. Think it's time I started looking into international roaming sims and then they can kiss goodbye to that extra £95 a month, thats £1140 over the next year, considerably more than I imagine the desire costs them............................

I might even wait until i am in the states next month and see if I can pick something up over there. I would have liked the incredible but it won't work in the UK and there is no GSM version as yet. If it did work it would be £70 cheaper than the desire if you bring one over and you would get a higher spec phone!!

Anyway only time will tell. Deal dependant!!
