Hi,
I'm having a bit of a problem updating to 2.3. I have the latest version of Kies, but when I plug in my phone it says the software can't be updated. I used the reg hack on my phone last year in order to obtain Android 2.2, and now my firmware is PDA:I9000XXJPO Phone:I9000XXJPP CSC:I9000OXAJPO ....
Is this the reason why Kies isn't letting me update? And if so, how do I now update the firmware?
Cheers

You have a couple of options here.
First lets find out what your sales code is... Type into the phones dialler - *#272*your imei number#
It will probably be KOR or NEE.
If you have the option to change to XEU do it and press OK. This will Factory reset the phone and apply the New sales code of XEU.
You should now be able to connect to Kies and update.
If you still have problems we can talk you through using Odin and manually flashing the firmware.

Hey there Shrimpmaster - you may not know but the protocol in the forum should be that if someone helps you out, you should click on the star under their username to give them "kudos" for helping you. The more kudos that you get means the more you can unlock in the forum.
And its a kinda nice way to say thanks as well. Cheers

Hi folks, first time poster here...although I have been following the forum for a few weeks now and have been impressed with all the advice on here.
I was just wondering if anyone knows when the official 2.3.4 release will be available through Kies? I'm currently running 2.2 on my SGS. I know some of the guys on the forum have been running the builds from samfirmware but I was just wondering if/when VF plan to push it?
Many thanks

Well First off there is a 2.3.3 via Vodafone already BUT it has problems
2.3.4 the leaked version Rocks But Networks Don't like it as it has a app that gives free Phone calls Via Voip Now the Leaked ones Normaly come out A Mounth before but as this rom was good Samsung Planned a fast roll out to fix the Bugs in 2.3.3
But the Networks Spat there dumbys out. Now Android rolled out Google talk to there Nexus S and Nexus one , Now they want that out with all compatable phones.
I have had a update to the First week in Augest and Networks Phone will not have Google talk on were XEU users will have it as a Download automaticly from the market .
The two leaked roms are Good the JVQ is the most stable one. Now the Last Rom Vodafone rolled it out the same time mainly to fix the mess that there chapps had mad of the previous rom. Well as this has problems i hope they roll it out as awick

If your phone is seen by keys then in tools you can download the firmware first you need to have your phone plugged in but it will not update at this point.
check your firewall is not blocking a program called kiespldr.exe (or shut it down tempory)
When you loose your connection at what point ?
And do not try updaying using wifi That is a Big no no
When kies has down loaded the firmware do a factory reset, Make sure nothing is open on your pc eg MSN or Yahoo Or Google or any other program.
plug your phone in it may offer the update do not yet
wait for kies to see your device
when it does click on your device and the centre screen will then show what firmware is on now and the update
Now hit update it should start the up date prosess leave the phone to do its thing
Now if you still get a error then you need to remove the driver and re install it
To do this then open device drivers and you will see it under MTP right click and unistall it
Then at the top you will see tools click and scan for hardware changes it will install the driver again
Then try Kies again
