Hi , I have just bought the samsung wave723.
Is there anyone who can advise me to get on the internet through Wifi, and how to set up the wifi.
I am new to all this up to date tech. LOL.
I tried to ring vodafone but the screen locks while in call so cant use key pad to answer some automated questions.
Please please someone help.

I've taken the below from the online instruction manual on the Samsung website (sometimes you might see wifi wrote as WLAN, Wireless etc)
Activate the WLAN feature
In Menu mode, select Settings → Connectivity → Wi-Fi.
You can also open the shortcuts panel and select Wi-Fi
Find and connect to a WLAN
1 In Menu mode, select Settings → Connectivity →
The device will automatically search for available
2 Select the check box next to a network.
3 Enter a password for the network and select Done (if

Hi Thanks ,
I have done that & I open the panel which is for my internet.
On the next step it has NAME, SECURITY TYPE, IP ADDRESS which says not connected, IP ADDRESS TYPE that has dynamic ip on ( and I can open another window with that). PROXY ADRESS & PORT with numbers and I can open another window with that one as well. Then lastly there is AP MAC with numbers on there.
So do you or anyone else know which I press and enter my internet key in.

Thanks for your reply. I don't have this phone to hand so can't say exactly what appears on screen though. I'd expect it would ask for the security key when you request to connect to the Wi-Fi network for the first time. The key it will ask for will either be a WEP or WPA key.

Hi I have got connected with wifi now. Well the symbol comes on when I press wifi. But as soon as I put in adress for a web site I get an error message: connection failed unable to connect. please review your network settings.
So were do I go from here. is it my phone that wants setting up again if so how. Or do I need to get in touch with AOL.

Sorry to see that this is still not set up for you.
I am not sure what would be causing this, but I have some questions and if you can answer these, it will help us to see what the next step is.
1. Will the phone connect to a different WiFi hotspot? and are you able to browse on the internet?
2. Will any other phone/device connect to the WiFi that you have been trying to use?
3. If you open the router security settings, will this connect?
3. Also if you have WEP on the router can you try WPA-SK, does this help?
If you can reply back to the above, that would be fantastic.

Thanks for the reply.
1) i have not tried another wifi hotspot, but have tried the internet and can browse that
2) I have a laptop and that is through wireless and that is ok.
But unfortunetley the other 2 questions I am not sure what you are on about.

Let me clarify Martin's last two questions for you.
The first, he's asking to remove all security and test a connection to the router. This way it would not ask for a key or code, you'd just need to scan and find the service to connect.
The second is changing the type of security used to connect to the router. the two types he mentions are 2 differing types.
Both of the above actions are done from your PC/Laptop when connected to the router. All routers have an admin page that you can access via your internet browser once connected, that will allow you to change these things. If you can advise what router you have, make and model, i may be able to help more specifically, or maybe one of our users could assist also?
