This is just the problem Samsung do not want, Networks on a go slow.
On the more popular phones Networks have to do the firmware first
But with the Note the Highest amount of customers are Non Network , this is because the only way to get hold of the Note was Via Independents
Now it all depends on How important Networks give this device
No once Vodafone has finished there roms Samsung will need to check to make sure they have not messed it up
Now this is the first rom now on other devices if you don't like a rom you can roll back to the previous Firmware
So it is your choice if you up grade
My son has don it (XEU) and its a good rom has some nice features
Vodafone would be stupid not to pull there finger out to sort this as its a selling point now that samsung are pramoting
*BE Aware that Debranding will void your Vodafone warrenty*
(But not your Samsung Warrenty)

Is this a common problem or not? I spoke to Customer Services and they were, frankly, useless.

No what happend ?? this can be fixed depending on what your phone is doing
Can you get into download mode
Pull the battery place back in press the Volume down - and centre home button then pess the power button and hold it until the First white logo comes on then let go ,then let go of the others it should then go in to download mode. To EXIT press and hold the power for eight secounds
If this works then we can fix this if not then it will have to go to Samsung to be fixed
How did you upgrate ?
Was it Via Kies or another way ?

Hi Northern-dj. Thanks for the reply! You're doing better than the Tech Team...
I upgraded over wi-fi, not through Kies. I had it set to receive push notifications for updates; received the notification and followed the instructions.
It freezes on boot at the same point every time. It goes through the first logo which says "Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000", then it goes through the Samsung animation, then "Samsung" comes on screen with a glow effect, and it freezes there. The first time it did that, I thought maybe the upgrade was continuing, so I left it like that for several hours.
I am able to get into both recovery mode and download mode. I did a hard reset in recovery mode, but it continues to freeze at the same point.

Please see my two posts on 24-5-2012. I really hope someone from Vodafone puts a hard date for the ICS update on here very soon.
As its a holiday weekend I'm not that busy with work but I refuse to keep struggling with a device that still doesn't have the functionality I was promised and need (to save me having to manual duplicate every calendar entry / meeting invite) once I back at work later next week.
So, if a largely bug free update with the full advertised functionality isn't going to be available in the next week or two, then fine, I can accept this - I'll just have to swap my Note for a device that does provide the functionality I need and was promised.
Suspect many others who purchased a Note from Vodafone will also be calling customer services shortly and insisting on a free exchange to another device.
If Vodafone want to avoid this happening then they need to provide a hard date before people return from the bank holidays.

I think you guys should be very careful what you wish for!![]()
I have just read the following warning on the Galaxy Note section of the xda developers forum (see the link below). It looks very serious to me, with a possiblity that as many as 1 in 20 people will end up with a bricked Galaxy Note if they upgrade to ICS.

That post on xda was dated 3 may that is way before ics became available for the uk.i would not take any notice of it,if your are not sure about upgrading to ics then take your phone to any vf store and get them to send it away to have the latest software put on it.

I posted what I thought was the most succinct warning sticky thread. There are further discussion threads after that date.
The decision rests with the individual, but personally, I think anyone considering upgrading to ICS should at least do their own research and make as an informed choice as they can.
