I upgraded my phone with the Vodafone bloatware. I then followed the advise on the old forum and did a further upgrade that got rid of the bloatware. I have never done the lag fix. I have not rooted my phone.
I now cannot upgrade the phone.
Please can I have some advise so that I can get back on the straight and narrow.
I use Kies. I dont have Odin installed.
Solved! See solution

Try reinstalling the drivers for Kies and make sure its the very latest version but to be honest with ya Kies is mince and Odin is the way to go. We have all the download links in the Resource topic for you to get Odin. If you go to www.samfirmware.com you can download the latest Froyo which is currently JPY 2.2.1. There are plenty guides on here and XDA for instructions on flashing with Odin.
Please note that all flashing/ hacking is done at your own risk and will void your warrenty. Before you ever flash make sure your 3 button combo works, if it doesn't then you must get this working before you proceed any further.

Ado,
I didn't make myself clear. I have cleaned out Kies and installed the latest version.
I suspect that the update I did using advice on this forum is not allowing itself to be updated.
For the clever people I hoped that the clue was in the picture in my original post.
When I use the latest Kies I get this message.
Since the original upgrade envolved altering the registry I assume that something similar will be needed again.

See my post HERE for new registry hack. Make sure you read ALL the instructions. You may also want to read up on Odin.

Hi Soupdragon,
The instrutions start
"
Samasung have released 2.2.1 officially today via Kies.
The ROM is JPX
It is intended for handsets with a product code XEU."
My phone is JPM or JP6 which I asume is suitable.
How would I find out the product code?
Thanks

Excellent work!
Now to change your product code to XEU
Type in *272*YOUR IMEI NO# then select XEU

hmm never herd of it not working. Out of interest have you carried out a factory data reset? if not then give that a bash and then try entering your *272*imei# again. Please note that you will loose all your settings and contacts when you do the reset.

*#272*imei#* (Display/change CSC code)That worksAs you warned all my contacts have now gone.Doing the actual upgrade I backed the contacts up onto the Samsung server. How can I restore them?
I don't back anything up on kies but I would imagine that you would have created a file on kies called contacts etc. If so then you should be able to transfer the file back on to your phone via the kies program.
