Re: Nexus One Gingerbread OTA Update Link

Google have touted 2.3 as 'the fastest Android yet' so you'd hope there is some difference.

Re: Nexus One Gingerbread OTA Update Link

Is it just me, or does the trackball notification light no longer work in Gingerbread?

Mine doesn't seem to work for Handcent SMS messages, even though I have the latest Handcent update.

Trackball light notifications don't seem to work for GMail either :smileyfrustrated:

Re: Nexus One Gingerbread OTA Update Link

Quick update re: Trackball notification light.

I've managed to get notifications to work for Gmail by using the following footsteps:

1. Settings>Sound>Pulse notification light>'Untick'>Restart phone

2. Settings>Sound>Pulse notification light>'Tick'>Restart phone

You Gmail notification trackball light should now work :smileyhappy:

As for the Handcent notifications...I'm still working on this!

Re: Nexus One Gingerbread OTA Update Link

Strange - The LED lights up as soon as you receive a message within Handcent, but after the initial blink or two it stops.

I've tried altering the frequency & colour of the LED but to no avail.

Try installing Light Flow from the Market.

Re: Nexus One Gingerbread OTA Update Link

Might give that a download later Rusty, but I'm unsure why it doesn't work since the update - Shouldn't have to download a third party app for notifications to work correctly.

Seems to have less lag!  Like the old style tv shut off when you lock it!

Re: Nexus One Gingerbread OTA Update Link

LOL can't say I've ever thought about it, but I suppose I could do if you're really scared (which you shouldn't be, quite a few on here have done it now).

Not sure how comfortable you should be with Royal Mail and your not at all cheap phone though!

Re: Nexus One Gingerbread OTA Update Link

Thanks to Rusty I finally took the dive and wiped Vodafone from my Nexus One, and installed Gingerbread. I was a little upset that I lost all my applications, but it's worth it in the long run (Considering it saved my pictures and music on SD card), enjoying Gingerbread, and looking forward to hasslefree updates in the future.

Thanks!

Re: Nexus One Gingerbread OTA Update Link

I've debranded Nokias before with success, but this has me stumped.

I'd love to be able to do it, but am going to admit defeat on this as I'm just not sure what I'm doing and don't want to brick it.

Rusty, if there's a way of you guiding me thru the process (idiot guide) then that would be ace. I can offer a phone number if you're able to do it that way or a visit if we're local to each other?

Surely it's time you bit the bullet, and sacked off the pointless Voda firmware? :smileyvery-happy:

Re: Nexus One Gingerbread OTA Update Link

Hi Rusty!

I currently have the vodafone firmware (2.2.1) on my nexus one. I tried to update my phone to the stock gingerbread file you posted but I keep getting an error about verifying the file and it stops the installation...

Any idea's?
