Nightmare with Google & music

What are you peeps using for music, I have just tried to copy a couple of legit albums I have onto the Nexus and they wont play.

I have read that the phone does not support wma files & also wont play them even if it could because you have to upload them to Google cloud and then stream them........ie use data constantly.

This to me would cost a fortune as I drive for a living and its the only thing that stops me turning insane...

I also read that the phone is not reconised as a storage device so a lot of in car radios wont allow you to play them even when you manage to copy them..

Any ideas

Re: Nightmare with Google & music

I use spotify to play my music, both streamed and stored on the device.

You might want to try converting the WMA file to MP3's that would get around the problem of them not being recognised by the phone.

There are several free converters out there

To get the music to play through a stereo i use an FM transmitter. relavtivly cheap and allows you to play audio from anything with a headphone jack through your car stereo

Re: Nightmare with Google & music

Thanks for the help guys, I realise that the Google people can not be held as such responsible for this system as they are only promoting their product and I am sure it is good idea in principal to steam music from huge dada bases of music from online servers but lets be honest Battery technology is still going to struggle...

Thanks again......

Re: Nightmare with Google & music

I have tried every combination of things that I can think of or has been suggested to sort this sound problem out and nothing has worked.

I have left a post on the XDA web forum so if anyone can sort this problem out it will be them some of the best guys developing software on on there....

No answer as of yet but will keep you all informed incase anyone else has the same problem...

I still have a few days left in the trial period but fear the phone will have to go back...

Re: Nightmare with Google & music

Download an MP3 from somewhere that doesn't require you to convert it.
As a last resort i'd do a factory reset just in case something has become corrupt.
If your still having problems then you probably have a fault with the phone.
I've not had any problems with mine, streaming or locally stored.

Re: Nightmare with Google & music

Thanks Liam I never thought of a factory reset, in the mean time I have been into Vodafone store in Sutton and the chap I spoke to just looked at me blankly when I started talking about converting files from wma to mp3 etc and bit rates.......and the manager was not interested when he asked if he had come accross the problem.....just looked at us and carried on with what he was doing..

So I went outside and called 191 to speak to customer services and they are sending me a new phone out for exchange on Wednesday.

Re: Nightmare with Google & music

Were the WMA files ones you'd ripped yourself from CD using Windows Media Player? If so, change the ripping options in WMP to MP3/320kbps and re-rip from the CD(s) in question. Less quality lost than converting from one lossy format to another

Re: Nightmare with Google & music

No I used MP3 coverter plus 2.1V

The first time I left it at the bit rate it was set at default then gradually tried increasing the quality until it went upto 320..

I also tried lowering the quality as well and also a lower speed for better quality!

I tried all the options that the software offered.

I am really stumped I can not be the only person with this problem...

Re: Nightmare with Google & music

But where did you get the WMA files in the first place? Nowhere online sells music in WMA format - only place I've seen it is when ripping a CD in Windows Media Player

If so, re-rip the music as MP3 from the source as opposed to converting from one format to another

If THAT doesn't work then try another phone :smileywink:

Very true, I always rip anything @ 320kbps - not worth using anything less

Re: Nightmare with Google & music

Its not a wmv fault, I have just tried Napster and every track has a problem so if streaming not working then it has to be the phone...

Thanks for trying to help though enjoys you phones.

Re: Nightmare with Google & music

Dave yes the people have given me more ideas for thought but have not been able to sort the problem out yet.

I do have a replacment phone on its way but in the mean time I am still trying to solve the issue as this not only helps me out and saves me reconfiguaring my phone again but also will allow someone else to get one of these phones as there seems to be a big waiting list!

Re: Nightmare with Google & music

Hi guys, and a resurection of this old topic wont please the mods from Vodafone but I have been busy and not able to dedicate the time to solve the problem and although as a phone it works fine when I can get a signal I still have this continued problem with music...

Also I have noticed a really bad few months with very poor quality signal and as such was unable to make the most of the 3 months free unlimited data trial........

I rarely see a 3G signal or even the H and often have to reboot to make a call......also I have had constant problems with trying to send texts and pictures....

I have tried a factory reset which is often suggested but it does not seem to make a difference...

Suggestions on a postcard please?
