Looks like you've missed out, but P4U were doing a 12-month deal at £36 a month 300 mins, ultd text, an 500mb internet (same deal I'm on now, 18 months)

The phone was £259

Based on the current selling price of £520 ish,

You'd be paying £14.25 for the sim, which is cheaper than the sim only deal on the same tarriff. (and you're out of contract in just 12 months)

Also the £36 a month at 18 month deal works out at £13.72 sim only which is cheaper than the above but 6 months longer (so you end up spending more in the long run)

How do you work out the 18 month deal costing more in the long run? The 18 month deal had the phone for free, yes?

£36 * 18 months = £648 total cost

£36 * 12 months + £259 upfront cost = £691 total cost

I can almost forgive them for being vague as estimated dates seem to have a habit of being interpreted as absolute 100% firm delivery dates. See upthread for an example of that.

Well, in my case, I was told "100%" that it would be that day,

no estimates, came from higher up.

I still genuinely beleive that this was the date they were going to release it, then (speculation) they decided to hold off until the fix was applied to the phones before sending out.

I was told they had stock sitting there ready to go, the testing was near on complete and it would 100% be available on the day I was told.

A lot has been said differently since then, but what can I say, things change, somebody decided it was better to wait rather than push phones out and then make customers wait for an OTA update. In this time they would have customers ringing up and complaining, demanding a replacement, which we all know would be exactly the same, some customers would return the phones and cancel the contract, all because of a little software but which is getting fixed.

IF THIS IS WHAT VODAFONE HAVE DONE, then I don't fault them.

What I do fault them for is the absolute lack of communication with their customers, and ignoring all queries.

I jumped ship and bought one from P4U knowing full well it would have this bug, and it does, if I force it. 4th day down and I haven't seen this bug once.

I knew what I was getting in to and haven't demanded a replacement or a return, but not everyone will know what we know..

no. 18 month deal the phone is £119.

However, I got mine for free on 18 months/ £36pm as an upgrade , which worked out better than the 12 month deal, plus I upgraded nearly 2 months early which means I saved a further £70-ish

That's what's really doing my head in. I've gotten over the waiting and being impatient for the handset, I'm now being impatient for some ruddy updates!!

Re: Pre-order upgrade to Galaxy nexus?

Hey I've got my phone, yet I'm still here...

why?

Not to chase down VF with a burning torch but just to find out the outcome.

It still winds me up that you're all sitting here frustrated about the situation. I know I haven't got the patience most of you have.. which shows because I've had mine a week..

@shambo

In a word.. yes.

There's another thread on this forum that theshabster started for discussion about the phone itself, my initial thoughts are there.

As I've said elsewhere, the specs of the phone arn't 'out of this world impressive'

However, the way it goes about everything is amazing, really.

Everything is so quick and precise.

The camera being zero shutter lag is true, the panoramic camera shots are really good.

GPS locks on to my (VERY accurate) location in about 3 seconds.

It's hard to explain, it's just an awesome all round phone.

Go and play with one in a shop if you can.

Thats where I got the zero price from then, my mistake.

Slightly odd that though that you got it on an upgrade considerably cheaper than for a new contract! Quite a result i'd say.

I know.. I was expecting to see a charge for the handset or a 24-month contract after it came through the post, but I got exactly what I was quoted on the phone.

Considering if I upgrade 2 months early too, would bring my total contract cost from £648 to £576, so after taking £520 off which is the cost of the phone I will pay £56 in contract fees in 16 months.. which is £3.50 per month..

Unless I'm doing some drastically wrong calculations.

Which is why I say do your maths people to get the best deal..

I have a strong feeling vodafone will come out with a good deal on this phone, they normally offer good deals which I think is why so many people are hanging on. I would expect them to be offering the phone for around the £59 mark on an 18 month/£36 contract, which isn't bad, even up to £100 for the handset will be a good deal (not as good as I got though)

But who knows.

Re: Pre-order upgrade to Galaxy nexus?

Voda usually have better and more flexible deals than their competition. Here is a thought though. That is one month of guaranteed support of the.phone gone already. Google support phones for 18 months from launch, not 18 months from when you get it. Of course, I usually do not keep a phone for longer than 18 months...

You'll only have it 16 months if you early upgrade again :smileywink:

Re: Google Galaxy Nexus

Incidentally I just rang P4U upgrades and they quoted me the 18 month 300 mins/unlimited text plus data (didn't specify how much data) though for £36 a month and no charge for the handset.

Re: Google Galaxy Nexus

So essentially there is bug free stock being sent to retailers. This means that Vodafone can sell it any time they want now.

It will be interesting to see if they have an excuse for not putting it out this week. They cannot say testing again, could they?
