This regularly happens to me.
Normally with Citylink.
I waited in ALL day the other week for a parcel, was sitting looking out the window for 99% of it, nobody knocked or rang the door bell (I have 2 dogs)
Only to check the tracking information online and it said delivery had failed an hour previous.
There was NOT a citylink van outside my house at any point. I rang them up (was a bit annoyed) and told them this and they 'sent the delivery driver back'
I think this is a scam these delivery companies use so they can charge you for redelivery

Hi all,
I need a little bit of an insight into what to do next…
I’ve managed to upgrade early to a Samsung Galaxy Nexus – and then straight away got an email to say that it was out of stock [this was on Wednesday]. I’ve not heard anything since – when I check My Account it mentions my new tariff including the BT Openzone data which I didn’t have previously, but do I just wait now or should I contact someone?

You're in the same situation I am. I upgraded last Friday (1st) and then got an email on Monday saying it was out of stock. Have had 2 emails since both saying there was no update. Have tried calling 191 and emailing customer support both of whom said they had no stock and it may be another 7-10 days.
A crap situation but yes, I guess we either have to wait or cancel. Still mulling the second option at the moment!

Thanks for the advice - it's what I thought I'd have to do.
One thing though, as an early upgrader, the phone was initially priced at £139 - but at checkout it was £219 - after reading up, part of the early upgrade process means I pay more for the mobile - fine - but does this extra decrease as I get closer to the end of my contract - ie if nothing arrives after a week do I get it a little cheaper? ![]()

Hmm - I'd double check the deal you got is correct. You shouldn't be paying more as an early upgrader as they just tack the new contract onto the end of the old one. I also upgraded early and got the phone free on the same tarriff as a new customer would have.
Maybe try 191 and double check the fee.

P.S. The above may not be true if you weren't within 6 months of the end of your contract. I only had 3 months to go....

Yes it was more than 3 months - I've checked and found this
Upgrade your phone and plan early
Upgrade up to 190 days before the end of your contract, and take your pick from our latest phones and plans
If you upgrade early, we’ll add the time left on your current contract to the end of your new one. So if you choose a 12 month upgrade and have 6 months left on your current contract, your new contract will be 18 months.
There’s also a one-off cost when you upgrade early – but this gets lower the closer you are to the end of your contract.
So it all depends how long it takes VF to find me a handset...

I upgraded early through the WRT and did it for a FREE GN!! My contract was due to end in May!!

OK,
Problem - after trying to cancel my order all day yesterday [kept being told the system was down] I decided to order a sim free version from elsewhere and then I would change to a sim only contract when my contract runs out.
My new sim free handset will be here today - but I wake up to find that my Vodafone handset has been despatched...
What can I do - can I return the VF one or do I have to return my sim free one?

I would generally stick with the network in case of any warranty issues etc with the phone, but their level of service with getting this phone on a contract seems ridiculous!
Keep in mind you usually have a week or so to cancel your new upgrade and return the handset to vodafone.
I ordered the phone on a new contract online on Monday 5th, after cancelling an in-store order because they said they won't have the phone until 11th December. Only to find my online order is also out of stock and no one can give an idea of when to expect it!
I've learnt to expect a crappy service from call centres now, everyone will always tell you something else so it's worth keep ringing until you speak to someone who knows what their talking about! The delivery issues sound pretty pathetic though, i've got cctv setup at home so it would be interesting to see if they pretend to deliver it!

Thanks - the VF upgrade is more costly in the long run, but the sim only takes a huge chunk to start with...
Oh, my text told me it should appear today - should I be able to find a tracking code somewhere?
