Ringtone - Samsung Galaxy Y

Can someone plese explain how to assign a ringtone to incoming message alert?
The phone is a Samsung Galaxy Y

Open the Messaging App, then press Menu > Settings... Scroll down to, Choose Ringtone.

Tap on the tone you want and tap on OK to confirm it.

Sorry,  should have said I want to apply a dowloaded ringtone, not one of the pre installed ones..

Hi Gordon,

 

Not a problem...

 

You need to create some folders on the internal storage of your phone.

Open your File Manager App, this shows the folders and files saved to your phone.

 

There should be a media folder, if not tap on menu and create folder.

Open media folder and tap menu and create 3 more folders...

Ringtones

Alarms

Notifications

 

Now you place your mp3 file into Notifications folder and it will appear in the list of tones available as described in my previous post.

 

The other folders can be used for Phone ringtones and also Clock Alarms.
