So this phone is now on Vodafone's 'Coming Soon' page : http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/coming-soon/mobile-phones as an "Exclusive".

and quite a few sites rumor it to be available in the UK from June 1st !!

As some other Samsung phones have been confirmed to have the atmel multitouch sensor (same as the HTC Incredible) it seems highly likely that the Galaxy S will also, so it will not have the multitouch problems of the Desire or Nexus One

The Super AMOLED screen looks amazing, and should increase the battery life
The GPU supposedly outperforms the Snapdragon processor in he Nexus and Desire at less power also.

So now all I hope is it's well built, doesn't eat into those power saving technologies with other unannounced power hungry features, and that the TouchWiz UI can be disabled, to make it a stock Android phone so the Android 2.2 update can be put on it the moment it is out for even more speed and power saving

A decent price would be nice too

I'd thought this was where the nexus one thread had started out, so I was surprised there wasn't one for the Galaxy S now, I thought I'd try and start one, if it's in the wrong place it should be moved.

Is the 1st june a confirmed date?? Also is it only the 16gb that is exclusive to Vodafone? I know there is due to be an 8gb model but it is not clear if that is being released on other networks either.
I am on a rolling 30day o2 contract just now and looking to get this phone asap so in a good position to cancel with them once i can find out and confirm release date for this phone.

I would prefer other networks to carry this handset too so there is a bit of choice and competition for deals. I was previously a vodafone customer and had no problems at all but moved to orange as handset i wanted before (samsung omnia hd i8910 ) was exclusive to them when released. Happy to go back to Vodafone but obviously want the best deal possible.

It may be a little later, play.com lists the handset for sale from the 10th. they don't state how much ram that one has,but looking around it does seem like it's the 16gb that is the exclusive to vodafone part.

no real reviews still for a product so soon to launch, I really want to see some battery life tests... :/

Well mobiles.co.uk have this available to pre order with various different vodafone tariffs. Expected to have it on 4th June also.
Strangely it is showing as an 8gb model so would be good if someone could confirm if the 16gb vodafone model can only be purchased through vodafone website and not just exclusive to vodafone network but actually to their website store also.

also will vodafone have it available 4th june as well? I have 30 days notice on current contract so looking to get my PAC request in as soon as i know when i can get this phone. tempted to just do it just now anyway as hopefully this phone should be out mid june

I appreciate your eager to get the Samsung Galaxy S, I've had a look on Google an it does look very cool.

I'm afraid we haven't had the official confirmation of deals or dates for the Galaxy S, these things are kept top secret even from us...

Feel free to speculate amongst yourselves and when we get something concrete we can let you know!

Such a shame vodafone havent got their act together. A rep told me it was due to be released in aparallel with the wave for the GBGrandPrix...that failed...
Perhaps the 16gb version is having difficulties, since we'd expect voda to at least have it up for pre-order if they knew it was coming.

On the plus side, had a really helpful rep today who'll ring me monday when he knows more

Anyone got any updates on this as Iphone 4 and sticking with O2 for me is looking appealing and at least I know when it will be out.
I was expecting to at least have had some sort of update from Vodafone by now. They had small advert in one of the tabloids yesterday showing the samsung wave and galaxy s. it even had tariff detail for the galaxy s but the weblink it listed doesn't show any new info on the vodafone website. also had a telephone number but I was unable to call it from work yesterday to see if they could give any info.

One retailer that was taking preorders has changed stock due to friday 11th but surely vodafone should be the same if not before and if so should have at least updated those that have 'registered for updates' by now! They were taking pre orders on the wave a bit before it was due to be released.

Given past history registering for updates is rather pointless. All the previous ones I've had I already had seen the news on the web before the email arrived.

The only thing it seems to offer is that if you don't actually get the phone when its released, they phone you up ages after to try and sell it to you.

I think it is just there so staff can say "go look at the coming soon page".

I see the preorder went up today with the phone due out on the 15th (tuesday).

Seems a bit expensive to me, especially compared to the HTC Desire. Though it is similarly priced to the iphone 3gs which is has a much better spec than.

Either way its taken too long for me to get straight away as I'm off abroad on Sunday for the rest of the month. Really wanted it for use while I was away (still got a k800i heh) but looks like I'll have to wait till next month.

Look forward to reading the feedback from those who get hold of one in the mean time though, so don't be shy!
