Tamper-proof sticker with delivery to a store?

I ordered an upgrade via the Vodafone online shop on Tuesday 8th. I've had the confirmation and now I am trying to be patient and not worry that I haven't received any information about a despatch date yet or whether I've even made the right decision to choose a smartphone.

Q. Can I be certain that a smartphone delivered to a Vodafone store will still have the tamper-proof sticker in place when I go to collect it?

I watched a couple of unboxing videos and noted that they have stickers that say do not accept if opened (or words to that effect). I wondered why and discovered that smartphones can be infected with virus and malware just like any other computer, I even found a reference to Vodafone Spain suffering from a malware problem!

As a follow-on question, and I hope it is rare, what is the process if when I go to collect the phone, I am unlucky enough to find that the box has been tampered with? How do I go about rejecting it as I wouldn't want to accept a phone that has potentially been infected.with malware.

Hiya

Its great to see you are upgrading to a smart phone, if it has been delivered to a Vodafone store, you can be assured that it will be fine.

If you don't like a phone for any reason you have 7 days to change your mind, whilst there are potential things that go hand in hand with a smartphone these are still incredibly rare,

Re: Tamper-proof sticker with delivery to a store?

Good, if your reply means that the box definitely remains security sealed and that it is a Vodafone policy?.

I'm coming from a Nokia 6124c and N810 Internet device, so yes going to a G. Note will be my first smartphone and my first experience with Android.

In the past, the one thing that I find really tedious about getting a new mobile/contract is the phone shops themselves, they are so slooowww. I actually avoid upgrading partly because I dislike any of the shops. Can I expect a better experience as I'm just picking it up?, i.e. show up with proof of who am I and get given the box and a new sim, or I am going to die from boredom as they inexplicily drag it out?

You can get in and out the store quickly if needed, but they also offer the transfer of your contacts etc if you so wish

Re: Tamper-proof sticker with delivery to a store?

Now, I am worried again, what could happen that would require the store manager to act on my behalf?

BTW the 7 day cooling off period clock is almost up, and I am wondering if I would be better off canceling the contract.

Hi Jules,

It seems that no one has actually answered your most pressing question.

Yes your phone should arrive at the Vodafone store with security seals intact.

You should inspect the security seals on the box and if they are broken, or you feel they may have been tampered with, then do not sign for the phone.

Your 7 day cooling off period will not start until you have signed for  the phone.

Hope this helps.

Take care,

Woppy

he 7 day cool off starts from when you receive the phone in your hand not from when your ordered it

E.g.. When you physically sign for it, That is when your seven day cool off starts

Sorry for the confusion on the Manager front

If the seal are broken then you refuse to sign for it

This also applies for a delivery from DLP you open the bag and check the Device before you sign for it

If there is any sign or damage then do not sign

This will not affect your seven days, That only runs when you except your device

If this is in a shop The manager Can contact Customer service on your behalf, and will agrange a replacement so you will not have to do anything

The seven day cool off is Very good Even if you can not use a Device say its to complicated

You just ring them up and they will collect the phone no questions asked  and thats it

So you have Nothing to worry about it

Re: Tamper-proof sticker with delivery to a store?

Thank you Woppy for directly answering my main concern.

My contract was upgraded on the 8th and I thought that was what the 7 days Distance Selling Regulation applied to?

Still no email about when the phone will be despatched, ho hum.

If the store isn't too far away I would pop in and ask them if it has arrived, just in case the email got lost somewhere.

Re: Tamper-proof sticker with delivery to a store?

No email or text.

I rang up Vodafone today, and I had a lot of difficulty understanding what the person was saying, they checked with the warehouse and I was given a tracking number for the delivery. So that I could check when it arrives and not waste a trip to the store. When I entered the courier tracking number it had already been delivered to the store last week! I don't why they just couldn't tell me that directly, instead of making me play a game of going through a courier comapnies websites.

Thanks for the help.

That's not Good when you get to the store make a complaint to the manager

There supposed to Notify you when it gets there and check up after 24 hours you have not been for it

Keep us informed on what happens

Oh don't forget the seven days starts from when you sign for it
