Hi,

When I have wifi and mobile browsing on, internet is really, really, really slow. Once I turn wifi off, occasionally it speeds up. Its becoming hugely frustrating!

Many thanks

Bill

Hi there

If you have WiFi and mobile data on at the same time and there is a WiFi connection available, it will automatically override your data connection.  If there are no WiFi networks available, you are using up a fair bit of battery as your device will be constantly searching for a WiFi connection.

Also, as you have discovered it can slow down your mobile data as it will be checking for a WiFi network first and then mobile data.

So, quite simply, turn it off when you aren't actually using WiFi.

Hi

Check your masts via https://www.vodafone.co.uk/explore/network/uk-coverage-map/index.htm

And try a soft reboot by turning the phone off and on.

Can you run a speed test to see what speeds your getng via http://www.speedtest.net/

The issue is caused by having WiFi on as explained above.

Having wifi on shouldn't affect data speeds on the phone which is why I posted.

Yes, this does, on the face of it, sound like a wifi issue.   Does the problem occur on all networks or only one?   If it's all, it could be the device, if only one, it's the network.

Also, what happens if you turn mobile data off while you're on wifi?  I'd expect it to make no difference so, if there is one, that would also indicate a fault of some kind.
