Jesus wept. How many more threads do we need on this??
It’s not bloatware, it’s a link on GOOGLES Android Market. Google is the clue. Read this it may help. It’s been happening in US for a while.
It’s not an App, it’s not put there by Vodafone, and it’s added by GOOGLE. Granted Vodafone have probably paid for the privilege, but if you don’t like it then blame Google for accepting the cash and allowing it on their, not Vodafone, App Market.
Really can’t see the issue here. It slows nothing down, and my apps is still there, it just takes a nano second longer as u need to hit menu button 1st.
You’ll probably find all SP’s will follow suite anyway, with the unbranded devices allegedly changing that link to HTC.
If ya still want to complain, try the correct place to do it. GOOGLE.
Rant over

Thanks to TSD and RupertTheFridge for providing some insight here!
As they say, it's something a number of other carriers and manufacturers are doing worldwide- we're just first in Europe but I'd expect everyone will follow. Surely it's worth it for some discounted or even free apps?
The only downside is that you can't access "My Apps" now from the main screen, but hit menu and it's right there instead.
Thanks,
Tom

As Tom said and many now this is new and i no as soon as something comes out its a oh no branding, well this is only cos of the way it was dine before, but as i have said on other threads they have listerned. What will let it down is if the apps are not disscounted or there just a big plug for vodafone. Now a nice app to start would be the one every one wantd is one that tells us how much data we have left........

I don't mind the vodafone icon being there, but it would have been better if it didn't replace the my apps icon.
Seeing as "my apps" is the main reason for accessing the market in the first place, I can't see why they can't move the other stuff around (mostly plugs for other apps that most people ignore anyway).

Paul, are you still on CM7?
On my market I still show Myapps where it should be. Earlier in this thread NDJ mentioned that it comes off the CSC.....but there is no CSC with CM7.....I keep on checking but Myapps is still there...loud and proud!

It only appeared on my Legend over the weekend Jim, so there could be a delay before it appears on some handsets...

Hi Jim, yes I am still on CM7 ... (testing glitch's latest 3 oc/uv kernels).
for reference my CSC is NEE (must have been from an old pre cm7 flash). Never bothered to get back to XEU (my original product code from my unbranded 16gb internal early model) as like you say, it's not relevant for cm7.
It's strange, the vodafone icon seems to come and go on the market, some times it's there, other times, my apps gets back on the main page.

I have mentioned that instead of My Apps or a vodaphone logo it would say My Channel then that opens up a separate menu which has the Vodafone and the My apps.
Of cause it would of helped if All Android user's got to no whats going on, We seem to be the last to find out hence the big mass panic and we may not of had this thread even.
There is a Google Androidmobile forum but there is nothing on there, A bit of thougt in rolling this out from both Vodafone and Google.
Now i still think Google are tinkering with it as i no of three phone that showed this but its gone again.
It would not of been hard for Android to let us no what is going on !!!!

@Paul, the VF logo is there on my one now, as Tom said above it has just taken some time to get here - after all I am in the wilderness of Scotland! ![]()
But what I need to ask is, where do you see CSC in your CM7? There should be none of that samsung stuff in there.
EDIT: Disregard, just read your post again and see that you mean your CSC before going to CM7. Will learn to read fully in future!

I still don't have it but i would not be bothered as i no its nothing to worry about, I jut shope the apps were offerd are worth looking at there fare to many News apps it would be nice for them to do some apps just for Vodafone eg a Data monitoring app or a app that Branded only apps.
We shall see what happens when it all starts

Hi Jim,
I can use the sgstools app (check product code option) to display the contents of the nv_data.bin and nv_data.bak files.
That's all ... they are still there, just not used any more.
It's strange, I am tweaking the uv settings on the new glitch kernel. When I get a crash (when the settings are set too high, or should that be too low) sometimes the "my apps" appears again. The next time I look, it's been replaced again.
Maybe the google market is slow to detect the mobile network.
On cm7 I do flash the latest gapps file most times when I flash a new nightly, so my google framework is up to date.

@Paul - yes, must be a kernel thing..I have stuck with CM7 stock kernel, was getting a bit fed up with fiddling about with the phone all the time so just do an occasional nightly now, everything running hunky-dory.

I agree with jim once every thing is working leave it alone, Jim has don alot on CM7 and if there was anything untoward then he will no about it.
With custom roms if things don't allways go right you can allways start again you may find out what is going on.
There are alot people that just go mad updating left right and centre, with kernals and allsorts , You need to ask why do they do it and what are they trying to do or gain, But i gave up trying to figure that out with a user called ADO28
CM7 is a Very good rom and the best alternative to the stock one, But the stock one is coming on and jim is out expert on CM7

yeah, I actually went over 2 weeks between flashing nightly's ...
I just can't help myself with the custom kernels every now and then, and testing out different modems (called radios on cm7).
getting off topic a bit now though ![]()

Staying off topic - as it seems the original question has been dealt with, the radios do interest me.. I am using JP5 which is actually a VF one, seems to work fine..are you on anything different?
Perhaps we should keep this on the CM7 thread though.

Think I tried JP5 before, might try it again soon. See my comments on the CM7 thread ...
