Has anyone had a problem doing a restore after the update?

Kies updated and the install went ok, did a factory reset before and after but when I'm trying to manually restore files, Kies just grey's out and doesn't respond?

Never mind, open and closed Kies a few times, it's sorted itself out now.

oh hang on, no it hasn't, just hangs on the restore bit now with the bar going backwards and forwards...

any suggestions?

sounds like Kies its self 

You could try unistalling and cleaning the pc registry then put kies back on 

I had this problem after the last update it would not see Outlook

Well to every one on stock Vodafone I hope they send a update out as your missing out on a very nice Rom

Samsung have done very well and the changes are Nice.

Even my son is jealous, I now have some phones from his school one from a teacher 

One new feature was the alarm clock, Much easier to turn off 

the app draw now has Folders just like the S2 

I have a lot of apps and it took some finger swiping to get to the app I wanted not any more 

adding widgets has changed with a nice menu

I would put some screen shots on but that future is turned off on some menus will post some with my DSLR later 

If Vodafone are no longer going to offer any more roms then I would de brand after your contract has ended as it would be a good selling point for the phone

Have to agree NDJ, my battery life also improved, after installing the new rom have had about 40 hours between charge, thats moderate use and only second charge, am hoping it will settle down a bit more after a few full charges then discharges.

It will it can take a couple of days to settle down

well got the official news this morning 

Samsung starts Rolling out the first Value packs Updates (VPU) to the Samsung Galaxy S I9000 devices.

The Update is currently Available for Europe and Korea through OTA or via Samsung Kies and will Roll-out to other countries soon. The Value pack will make your Galaxy S Faster, smoother and uses some Android 4.0 features adapted inside it, such as the Facelock.

The face rec works to find it tho is not easy its in the password section

Yes i have also updated mine, using Kies, i only updated to 2.3.5 a couple of weeks a go so hadn't got it fully loaded yet, so i thought what the hell.

Glad i did, its so ast smooth and the battery life is much better, and the auto rotate seems faster.  I  did the factory reset before and after and didn't have any issues with Kies ( for a change).

The photo editor is very good and the camera seems a lot better in poor lighting or was i less drunk than usual lol

The only thing i haven't managed to get working is the facial recognition screen unlock....anyone else got this working is it anygood?

Congratulations on a successful update.

Regarding Face Unlock it's pretty much a gimmick, and one that got annoying very quickly  

If you want to use it though, the best thing is to take about five or six pictures from different angles of your face. Then the phone will recognise you much quicker.

I just followed your instruction from last time and did it sweet as a nut.  I have good mentors

when you set it up, make sure your whole face fits inside the oval cut out.

Then set up your alternative unlock method.

When unlocking the phone again make sure your whole face is inside the oval cut out again.

Just set it up again on mine, works fine.

cant' find where its says set alternative unlock method, am i being a bit thick??

After you capture your face, a pop up should ask you to "Set Other unlock method for alternative unlock"

The new value pack update for xeu customers is AMAZING! it has the touchwiz 4 update and seems to bring some cool new (old for the galaxy s2) features. also seems to be running very smooth. so far so good....will give more update in a cuple of weeks....

When its on stanby and you put it on charge there is a nice charging bit on the bottom, the only shame was we got no video editor.
you can now pur apps in folders in the app draw also the widget editor has a nice cool look.
