Hi mancman,

I can help with a few of these:

1) Think the message alert was recently covered in another of the threads on here that have been updated today, think the song you may want to use may need to be on the internal sd card, not external one.
2) Is the new message notifocation appearing in the notification bar or on the main screen and are you using the default sms application for text messages or do you have another? Whichever you have set up to show a notification for a new message will continue to show the notification until you view the messages in that application, even if you've seen all messages in another application.
3) It is safe to install apps from Samsung, you need to go to Settings > Applications and ensure there is a tick in the box for Unknown sources (Allow installation of non-market applications)
4) On the yahoo email site, choose options (top right hand side, then there is an option for POP and Forwarding on the left hand side of the page, From there ensure the Allow your mail to be poped is checked. Works for me.
5) Not sure about predictive text on the internet, Does your google page not have the latest Instant Beta option available? Maybe someone else on here can help with that?

Re: a few little niggles

thanks very much for your help it was much appreciated

i turned a voice thing off and obviously it didn't say anything, turned it back on and the new message arrived was back , i may do a factory re-set to see if igoes away

2)with from yourself and others i've managed to allocate text alert from my micro sd

3)followed your instructions for my email and its worked a treat

4)will have a go at samsung apps in near future

5)will just have to put up with non predictive text entry for google search unless some one out comes up with a solution

many thanks for all your help again it's been very much appreciated

Regarding the factory reset, I'd only consider that as a last resort and if you haven't already cutomised your phone to your liking. If all else on the phone works to your liking then try to find another alternative to a factory reset. If it's a downloaded app that isn't working right then uninstall it and install it again. It may help if you can tell us what the voice thing is that you're referring to. Is it a default app already installed on the phone or one you downloaded and installed yourself?

Re: a few little niggles

hello there, i've uninstalled the apps i've downloaded and it's still saying (new message arrived)

the voice thing i was on about is

1) i press the apps icon then press the settings icon

2) then access the VOICE INPUT AND OUTPUT

3) ACCESS TEXT-TO-SPEECH SETTINGS THEN TURN OFF DRIVING MODE

Re: a few little niggles

Hi, I think I found the application you were referring to. It was a slightly different method to find it on my phone, possibly down to different firmware versions. I don't use that function so can't really help with that, though my main default sms app icon on the front screen always showed a new message despite there not being any. I went into my messages from the main default messaging icon and just briefly opened up the last few messages then went back to the main screen and the icon was no longer showing a new message. You could try that, if they are both default apps on the phone they could interact or be in sync with each other.

Re: a few little niggles

i no this might be a strange question but i had this and it was a voice mail message, also turn active sync of cos this depends on what email service your using, a new email will still be unread in your inbox on your email provider even if you have read it on your phone
