after waiting months, you will remenber we were promised by Vodafone this would be available in May

last night out of boredom I plugged in my samsung galaxy s and got a message saying a newer version of Kies was available

I donloaded it and then got the much waited for A firmware update is available message

I backed up my phone, wrote down details of all my APPS, plugged in the phone and hit download new firmware

a pop up saying

GT-19000

PLEASE PROCEED WHEN SYNCING GT-19000'S MUSIC ...IS

COMPLETE

So far so good

except I left it overnight expecting to see my firmware upgraded

its still sitting in the same version

I still have the message above showing

I did try clicking the OK message and trying again, but all that happened was Kies shut down

I still have FROYO 2.21

Any idea what I should do?

oh and content control is still applied but thats another problem

I also wonder if the updated firmware is any improvement

my galaxy s is working fine

What ya doing messing around with Kies still LOL

Your Now on 2.3.3 Gingerbread 

That has its problems With Battery drain and the phone getting hot, And Random Reseting 

2.3.4 fixes all theses but were still waiting for the roll out so another update will be looming soom

Hi,

Kies itself has received what appears to be quite a major update today (2nd August 2011).

The latest version is 2.02.11071_128

Neddless to say it still didn't want to know anything about my Galaxy S, recently updated to XXJVQ using Odin, although it did at least recognise the phone, and enable me to do do a back up if I so wished!

XXJVQ Is a leaked rom and kies will not recognise it JVO is the only gingerbread one that Kies will see or 2.2.1 JPY

Silly question but Lies means Kies Air or is there another app i need to load

still using Kies as I am waiting for a bit of help from Vodafone

I havn't noticed battery drain or any other problems so far

mind I havn't noticed any difference at all

The battery drain will come there are alot still on Vodafone and still wait for kies but 2.3.4 from Vodafone is along time coming

yes I restored factory settings, what ROM is the best for battery life?

Well 2.3.4 is due out soon and that sorts the drain out JVO started the FC problems and there fixed on 2.3.4 But the roms that are out are beta roms JVR is the latest but that was leaked before the beta testers got the hands on it, and it has been tampered with 

Why Samsung are dragging there heals over this when they no that JVO 2.3.3 was a flop 

I am only on JVK for a stable gingerbread rom JVQ Is good as well,I have fixed 28 SGS Phone on Various Networks all with FC (Force Close) Problems 

with 2.3.3 on all I have taken back to 2.2.1 JPY which strangely is still my favorite Rom 

Every one wants 2.3.4 this is what Gingerbread's should of been like at Launch and the Battery Drain will be a thing of the past

Also got an update notice and now I am backing up all my files before charging the phone and doing factory reset

Just in time too, because today I noticed the battery problem and a phone shut down

hope its worth all the work, its taken me 3 days to get my phone the way I want it after the last firmware

all up and running battery seems ( a little)better and seems ( a little faster but at the mo not added many apps back in I guess thta will be the test . Stability was never really a problem for my phone so I hopefully wont have any issues of that type . Haven't noticed any huge differences. Still not even been a full day yet
