Re: nexus losing signal - and even back on 402!!

Hi Jimlad

I have had the same issue - very frustrating. Issue emerged, was wih me for 10 days a few weeks ago and then inexplicably resolved itself. Not aware that I did anything or changed anything particularly apart from having a moan on these forums. Have been on 4.0.2 over this time. Have you tried returning to factory settings? Sorry I can't help more

All best

P

yeah mine started when i tried to udate to 404, it had trouble downloading, got on 404 and then had the loss of signal, reverted back and restored the default 402 via the google factory image site.  so far its been ok today.

Re: nexus losing signal - and even back on 402!!

Hi JimLad,

The Galaxy Nexus is the Google's developer handset and as such sees its Android software updated before any other handset meaning you always get the latest and greatest features! The downside to this is that the handset will have a few more issues than other phones on the market.

Re: nexus losing signal - and even back on 402!!

yeah im aware of that mate, had about six andriod devices since cup cake.  but still they are releasing full versions that have not just got bugs but simply dont work, i paid £500 for my nexus and it did not work for 4 weeks. with the volume bug, they then roll out 404 which made my phone lose signal when on stand by

Re: nexus losing signal - and even back on 402!!

When you reverted back did you revert back to the old radio?

I moved to 4.0.4 on a custom rom so my radio stayed the same (XXXKK6) and everything was fine. I then flashed a new radio at the weekend (XXXLA2 that came with 4.0.4) and whilst the signal and battery life seems better I do lose the signal when the phone is off sometimes.

Re: nexus losing signal - and even back on 402!!

Hi Aglithro

Is your issue related to the same handset issue, or is it location specific, just with the same symptoms?

If the latter, which seems to be the case from your post, please take a look at the network troubleshooting thread, check specifically for any threads regarding the area and let us know the details requested in that thread's second post.

This just allows us to keep separate issues clearly defined, meaning everyone can follow their query easily.

Re: nexus losing signal - and even back on 402!!

Hi Dave

To confirm that the issues are UK wide and only on the Vodafone 4.04 build, this issue was fixed in  the official Google build.

I have tested removed all Apps and no difference, also been through your connection guide no luck

A new SIM I do not feel will solve the issue

Please could you confirm when I can make calls on my telephone

Thank you in advance

MM

Re: nexus losing signal - and even back on 402!!

Hi Masonicmoron

Thanks for your post. If you've been through the Network Troubleshooting and you don't believe there to be a SIM error then the next option would be a repair under warranty if you're still in your contract commitment. This can be arranged either in store or via postal repair and you can find more information on our repairs procedure here - Repair a faulty handset or device.

Thanks

Simon

Re: nexus losing signal - and even back on 402!!

its my understanding that the GN, as well as the Nexus S, were untouched by networks as these were pure Google Android phones....something the networks dont like, hence why other android phones are full of Network software. i had to install 4.0.4 on mine last week as the upgrade notice i got OTA wouldnt install..it just hanged....if VF are interfeering with software updates, surely this is beyond Googles wishes?

Re: nexus losing signal - and even back on 402!!

Hi

They are relatively untouched by providers.

There have been two builds of 4.0.4, the first one had the signal drop issues and was the version initially being rolled out by Vodafone. Google halted the roll-out and then released a reportedly fixed new build but still denoted as 4.0.4, Vodafone then recommenced the roll-out but with the newer build.

If you're having signal problems on 4.0.4 you may be using the older build. I suggest you check, the build number of the newer build is IMM761. If you're struggling to upgrade then you could use the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310 having downloaded the newer stock ROM 4.0.4 from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#yakju.  Read the instructions carefully for the toolkit, will not void warranty so long as you don't unlock bootloader or root the phone - just avoid those options when using the toolkit.

All best
