hi, kies advises i have lastest firmware which is still verion 1.0, most apps i want is version 1.2 has vodafone released this version yet? i have tried vodafones upgrade software page and nothing for this model

.  I have just tried reinstalling kies again on the new 2.0 version.  still does not work,  it advises this version of the device cannot be updated, firmware version i have on the wave is s8500ACJF1/S8500VODJF2(XEU) Im still on 1.0 version PLEASE HELP.

That’s weird! I've just checked and can see that this firmware update was launched on the 27/08/2010 so nearly a year ago.

I will speak with my device team concerning this and get back to you as soon as possible.

take it to carphone warehouse, and tell them it has a firmware issue, they send it off and get latest firmware put on, which takes all vodafone rubbish of phone, then from then on you can use kies to update it., vodafones firmware stops you from updating it as they like to have there own branding on YOUR phone

Well I went into carphone warehouse today and they stated unable to do this I need to refer to vodafone as this has there firmware on.

I need version 1.2 on but kies still advising device can not be updated and even customer services in my local vodafone shop was no help on this issue

go to different carphone warehouse, and all you need to say is, ( my phone keeps crashing and being very unresponsive, i think it is a firmware issue, could you please send it off to service centre) and they will do, you will get it back unbranded with the latest firmware, and when ever a new firmware is released you just plug it in to kies,

I downloaded 1.0 last night with flashing software, i flashed it on to my phone, then i have just about 10 mins ago updated via samsung kies to the latest 1.2.

If there was a way i could give you my email address on here i could arrange with you to send you the software on a pendrive, and you could do it very very easyly, then you can update to bada 2.0 via samsung kies when it is released. Also it takes all vodafone branding of the phone, which makes the phone quicker, and the phone can then be used as Samsung intended it to be used, with no restrictions.

Samsung them selves gave me the firmware, due to the fact vodafone phones with there firmware on will not update via kies, the reason for this is vodafone stop you due to the fact they like to load there bloatware on to there phones. to remind you everytime you switch phone on that your on vodafone lol.

My girlfriend bought it for me from your shop in Fareham, i think, its been over a year since I've had it. I think it was an 18 month contract.

Yes, you should be able to update your firmware through the KIES software!

Could you tell me any error messages that are displayed when you try and load the latest version available through KIES?

I thought I'd take screen grabs to help show what the problem is, So with a fresh install I add the latest Kies software....

Once I plug my phone in however, the Firmware information section (shown below) always has this...

and thats where I'm stuck as it wont let me update at all.

XEE/JEE is a Scandinavian Code, that is why you are not being offered an update Via Kies.

You will need to take this to a Samsung Service Centre or return it to Vodafone to have the Firmware flashed.

You could also Flash the Firmware yourself if you feel confident enough to do this?

now that is interesting seeing as I definately got it sent to me from Vodafone in the UK.

I was thinking about flashing it, but I don't entirely understand where to start... surely i could only flash XEE/JEE firmware onto it? otherwise I might brick it right?

I had taken it to a Vodafone store once already (last week) and the guy there had flashed it but I guess he didnt flash it right, because the screenshots I took were only from a couple of days ago

Sorry I can see the code clearer on your new picture. JEC is a UK Firmware. I thought it was JEE, sorry for the confusion.

I have found a flashing guide that claims to restore Kies connection as well. Read carefully!
