Arc now drops wi-fi connection

Had the Arc since the 30 May and connected to my VirginMedia Hub without any problems until today.

This wi-fi appears in the list on my Arc as "password protected" (padlock shown) but it wont have it now and says that it can't find the phones IP address. Then I connected to PC Companion to see if there way any updates from SE and it notified me that the phone was up-to-date.

I've looked to delete and then re-install it but can't find where you can do a delete.

After searching "google" for some pointers on this subject I came across MANY posts in various forums with all these users having the same problem with the Arc. No solutions/replies were given.

SE should sort this out or they will loose their market for mobiles as everyone thought that the Arc was in a different category to all their previous models with gave them a bad. I'm thinking that now two bad SE phones in a row I wish I'd chosen HTC or Samsung.

Can everyone help or at least give me some pointers to sort of problem out.

Terry

Re: Arc now drops wi-fi connection

it says it can't find an IP address? normally for that kind of message, i'd say that your VM Hub isn't handing out an address to your Arc.

Have you tried connecting to any other WiFi network? (even a free public one like in a pub or Starbucks)

have you checked what the VM Hub is saying in its control panel regarding WiFi connections?

(sorry, not on virgin, so no idea how the VM interface works)

Re: Arc now drops wi-fi connection

After doing some experiments, as you do when you've got a new handset and have to learn more about it that the User Manual doesn't tell you about, together with reading stuff in forums etc, I powered down my PC and hub.

After rebooting them, the hub obviously found a new IP address and then clicking on the wi-fi on the Arc and choosing the right connection it asked me for the password (passphrase) and then off we go again.

Now sorted!
