Hi kevmars

Thanks for your post.
I imagine that this must be rather annoying for you.  Not to worry I'm here to help :smileyhappy:.
It sounds like you need to import the contacts from your SIM on to your phone. This can be done by going to Menu>Contacts>Import Contacts.

Can you give this a go and let me know how you get on?
Thanks

Re: Cannot read from sim???

Hi kevmars,

I'm a little confused now - if the SIM card is blank, can you confirm what you're trying to read from it for me?

If we know what you're trying to do, it will make it easier to help.

Re: Cannot read from sim???

im trying to read my number from the sim card.

my understanding is that if you have a mobile number then it registered to the sim card.  I have manually inputted my number under this option but i would have thought that the phone should have read this automatically.

can you explain what it means though by cannot read from sim ...?

Re: Cannot read from sim???

Hi kevmars,

The phone wouldn't read the number form the Sim card, but form the network instead, as as number can be changed on the Sim. If you dial *#100# then this will bring up your number.

Re: Cannot read from sim???

then why is it on the top of your contacts list? when I click on it, it brings up the contact 'myself' followed by my name, no. email address etc, is there anyway for it to be removed from the top of my contacts list?

Re: Cannot read from sim???

Hi rubba2g

Thanks for your post here. I'll be honest, I'm not entirely sure how thats happened, unless you have had a phone before that you have managed to save this information to the SIM with.

Have you tried just deleting the contact as you would with and other contact?

Go to the contact you wish to delete, keep your finger on it and a menu pops up, the bottom option is to delete.

Please let me know how you get on and we'll be happy to help you further if you need anything else

Thanks

Wayne

Re: Cannot read from sim???

Uncannily I have the identical problem with my X10 I have swapped cards from W715 and had a few abortive attempts at importing contacts but then installed my brain did a factory reset and started again. I had 90 contacts all brought in successfully but at the top is Myself cannot read from SIM. As I have the identical issue I cannot believe you tekkies have never seen it before.

Re: Cannot read from sim???

Hi Artful_Bodger,

Thanks for posting. The reason you're seeing this message is because the SIM card doesn't have a number pre-programmed into it because all contract SIMs start off blank.

On some phones you'll be able to amend this, however I'm not aware of any way to do it on the X10. I can confirm that this won't cause any issues at all though.
