Fed up with SE. What to choose from HTC range?

I am really fed up with Sony Ericsson wait/uncertainty and thinking of either cancelling my preorder and going to Orange (LG Optimus 2x) or choose something from Vodafone HTC range, There are only two phones in my price range: Desire S and Desire Z.
I like the idea of keyboard (my HTC Kaiser was perfect for emails) but then Desire S got better processor. Decisions, decisions...
Any advice?

Or you can get the ARC or Play even on vodafone from third party retailers or online retailers, some are offering next day delivery on it...its just vodafone that seems to be doing badly on stock not SE.
Im giving vodafone till monday as ive told customer service otherwise ill pulling my contracts and going else were. Sad day, but they just dont seem to want to keep customers.

This is true, lots of 3rd-parties sell these phone with Voda contracts.
However, I've been told by Helen from web team that I can't cancel an upgrade before I actually get the device, then I'll have 7 days to cancel.
Which is, if you think of it, a catch-22 situation: I want to cancel because phone is not available but I can't cancel because it is not available.

If you're in the same situation then you can do the same as I've done: gave'em a call on 191, explained the situation and within 5 minutes my contract was amended. ![]()

It was changed from Arc to Desire S. Same money, same minutes/texts/internet.

Note that the Arc is a more expensive handset to buy sim free than the Desire S. It has a bigger screen, better camera and HDMI output. That said HTC give better warranty and a faster chip.

Yes, I know that on paper SE Arc is better than HTC Desire S. Price aside, screen was the major reason why I went for Arc in the first instance. A week or so ago I had a chance to play with Arc in Three shop (strangely enough, they had plenty of those) and really liked the screen.Compared to Arc, the HTC Desire (the original one, not S) looked really lousy. Couldn't test camera to full extent but pictures looked great on phone's screen.
However, I was disappointed by pretty much everything else about Arc: the phone itself feels plasticky and very light - almost like a cheap toy. Don't know how SE managed to achieve such an effect but that was the first thing that put me off. The phone had noticeable menu lag which was there even after phone restart. But the real deal breaker for me was phone's availability on Voda's or Orange network (there is no way I am going to Three again).
Anyway, my HTC Desire S has been delivered today and I am really happy about it. The phone is very good - everything works as it should, good screen, nice enclosure and it even fits in my HTC belt case. What more can I ask for? ![]()
