Loss of network connection.

On an almost daily basis my Xperia neo looses it's connection to the vodafone network and connects to 3 UK. A "available network" search finds both Vodafone 2G and 3G networks but wont connect and gives me the "Your sim card does not allow connection to this network" message.

Re-booting the phone solves this and gets me back on Vodafone but it is becoming a pain to have to keep checking I still have a network connection and also having to reset passwords when I go no line.

Any ideas anyone?

Re: Loss of network connection.

Hi sonny1751

Thanks for your post here. I’m sorry to hear that you are having problems with this.

What you will need to do is to try your SIM card in another phone and see if the problem follows your SIM card. I suspect that this is an issue with either your SIM or your handset, so we need to work out which one.

How old is your SIM card?

Please let me know and we’ll be happy to help you further.

Thanks

Wayne

If you have a spare minute could you please take the time to fill out a short feedback form about me?

Re: Loss of network connection.

My Xperia Play has just started to do this today. It was ok around 12:10pm (Last text recieved was at this time.) but I hadn't checked my phone until 5pm and I noticed I didn't have a connection to the network. Every time I try reconnecting the phone it gives me the "Your sim card does not allow connection to this network" message, I've had the phone for about a year now.

Re: Loss of network connection.

Hi there LineR32,

Thanks for your post.

Could you try placing your SIM into another handset to see if the issue remains with the SIM?

Would it also be possible for you to try another SIM in your handset to see if the issue stays with the handset?

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: Loss of network connection.

Had this problem since buying the phone.

Even went back to Vodaphone who were quite sympathetic; said I had 2 choices, either to send the phone back for repair(?) or to try changing the 'sim'. I opted for the latter but to no avail.

After much experimenting I eventually found the answer.

The Xperia is normally set to automatically search for Vodaphone 3G. In poor 3G areas this means that not only is the phone searching for a signal that it probably cannot get it also means that this is also a huge drain on battery life.

To rectify this go into 'Settings' 'Wireless and Networks' 'More' 'Mobile Networks' 'Network operators'

Initially this will do a search of all available mobile networks.

In the 'Search Mode'  change this from 'automatic' to 'manual'

In my case I then simply changed the network from Vodaphone 3G to Vodaphone 2G.

Heypressto - I have never lost a signal since.

The only downside is that the wife can always contact me!

Let me know how you get on.
