Hi,
I have a sim only contract with Vodafone and I just bought a second hand Sony Ericisson Arc handset which is suppose to be unlocked. however on putting in my vodafone Sim and my pin number, I then get a message asking for a Network Sim Unlock Code. Does this mean the handset is not unlocked? Sorry I really have no clue about this sort of thing! If it is locked to Vodafone, do I need to get a NUC to unlock it?
Does that sounds right?
Thanks

If it was locked to Vodafone, your SIM would work, so its locked to another network.
Who did you buy it from? they would probably know.
failing that, try one of those independent mobile phone stores - a lot of them offer unlocking,
and they should be able to figure it out.

It came with a O2 sim in it, although it wasnt an active one, so I am guessing it is locked to O2?
Would a NUC unlock it so I can use it with my vodafone sim?

I would assume its locked to O2, yeah.
A NUC (assuming you mean Network Unlock Code) would allow you to use the phone on any
network, although I believe any software updates would come from 02 (they brand their phones,
just like the majority of carriers).
i think a code costs about £15 from them, but they can be a little...diificult...to deal with if you aren't
the original owner of the phone.
Good luck
