Sony Ericsson Vivaz Messaging Issue

Hi,

I have had my Vivaz for about 1 year i think, and havent really had any problems, up until the weekend there.

When I get texts, the blue light on the side of the phone pulses 3 times, and a green light on the side flashes intermittently. I also used to get a banner across the bottom of the screen saying 'x new messages' and a message logo on the top left of the screen. However, on saturday afternoon, this stopped happening. My phone now does not let me know if i have any messages, and I have also missed calls in the same manner.

I read that having too many messages on the phone could be a problem, however I have only 3500 in my inbox. I completed an updateof the phone's software on sunday but the problem still remains.

Any ideas how to fix it?

Brendan

Re: Sony Ericsson Vivaz Messaging Issue

Hey wilko_25,

Thanks for your post regarding the messaging function not performing as expected here. Very frustrating, I must say. Especially since you're missing calls and texts.

I've had a look at the office Vivaz and am unable to replicate the issue as yet.

  • Can you confirm for me the software version of the device please?
  • Have you tried deleting some of the old messages? 3500 seems a lot, and although the memory for sms is practically unlimited, deleting some may help the performance of the handset.
Typing the command *#0000# will show you the software version. This, and other useful information on your device can be found in our dedicated Vivaz Help Centre.
Can you get back to me on the above points?
Cheers,
Lee

Re: Sony Ericsson Vivaz Messaging Issue

not sure if this is relevent to the vivaz , but on the satio if you touch and hold an empty point in the middle of the screen

an option for preferences will appear , and in there is a setting saying "open panel on new event" , which somehow i changed

in my pocket when i forgot to lock the phone , if this is switched off all you get is a flashing green light to tell you that you have

missed a call or message , switched it back and all was good , found the fix by accident as there is no reference to it in my

manual or SE support pages , you will have to touch a single point of the screen for at least 2 seconds for "preferences" to appear

hope this sorts out your problem , i know how frustrated i was when i was missing messages .

Re: Sony Ericsson Vivaz Messaging Issue

Was looking for an answer to a problem I have when the vivas goes silent and with calls as well , I tried the tip you left about touching the screen for two seconds and changing "open panel on new event" can anyone explain whats it about , I changed it from 0 to 1 but not sure what its doing.

To get over silent problem at moment I just go to profiles and check the settings are at normal which seems to resolve it.

Any further info appreciated.

Hi boation

This seems to be a strange issue.:smileyindifferent:

You’ve stated it goes silent for no apparent reason, but reselecting a “normal” profile in settings rectifies this. When you select this profile, has the default profile changed or do you merely reselect the active profile? Can you also add the software version you have on the device, as requested by Lee in the earlier post?

Again this is something I’ve been unable to replicate in the office with our stock Vivaz.

Let me know if you’ve any further questions.

Regards

Re: Sony Ericsson Vivaz Messaging Issue

The phone says its on normal profile and I merely reselect it.

Everything seems to be normal just now so here,s hoping.

But what is the 1 and 0 I am selecting on preferences?

This vivas is still going silent , I cant remember what resolved this the first time, is it something I am inadvertantly doing with the screen etc.?

Re: Sony Ericsson Vivaz Messaging Issue

Hi boatlon,

Many thanks for getting back to us to let us know that the issue has occurred again.

The only way that I can seem to replicate this issue is if I accidently change the active profile from the home screen by pressing where it says Vodafone UK.

However, the only thing that I can see it to make sure that the default profile is set to normal by selecting menu- settings – accessories – headset – default profile – normal.

Give this a go and let me know how you get on.

James
