Xperia X10 - 2.1 rolls out tonight?

Bought this phone as an upgrade on my contract... Was specifically told by the Vodafone chap i spoke to that you could update firmware to 2.1 and that he had done it himself on his X10.

I get the phone and find out that thanks to your idiotic attempts to further close down an open source OS this isn't possible and your customer services straight out lied to me.

A complaint will be filed, i'll insist on the tapes being pulled and listened to... The phone will be sent back and i'll change to a network provider who give a ###### about their customers!

Xperia X10 - 2.1 rolls out tonight?

Well, I went to the XDA forums and got everything I need to flash my debrand my X10 to v2.1

Everything went perfectly, and my X10 is running faster than ever. All the Vodafone settings were really easy to put on my phone, and obviously I don't have any of the 360 stuff either :D

Xperia X10 - 2.1 rolls out tonight?

I got fed up with waiting too.
Googles vodafone x10 2.1 and the were loads of websites with walkthroughs to update handsets.
Mines now flashed to 2.1 generic and it runs like a dream. It's like having a new phone again. :)

Xperia X10 - 2.1 rolls out tonight?

Just spoke to VF about my signal issue but also asked them about this update.... VF have got it and are testing it, the guiy said it should be available in the next couple of weeks. This leaves me wondering, How long does it actually take for them to install features such as 360 (for which I have only used 1 and never touched it) and test it???

Come on VF give it us ASAP

Is flashing safe.... I'd love 2.1 and get rid of the VF stuff

Can you put the VF stuff back on if its goes faulty?

Yes you can put the Vodafone firmware back on if you want. Start PC Companion, go to Support Zone, and repair firmware. This will download the latest Vodafone firmware and put it back on your phone. Woked for me anyway, when I tried flashing firmware a while back and it failed.

The flash I did to 2.1 went flawlessly. It takes a long time to boot up afterwards, but you just have to wait.

Just make sure u use backup on pc for contacts and calender etc. U can use astro for ur apps, i downloaded astro, go to menu, preferences, app manager added for homescreen, once u open this it allows u to backup the apps to sd. Only issue i had then was when u reversed it they didnt show in market until they updated again, but this is minor for the benefits u receive.

Come on Vodaphone sort out your updates. It's just tedious.

Ditch 360 and just give us the firmware instead of all the c**p. No wonder so many are de-branding and updating to global 2.1.

Pathetic as usual.

apologies if I'm wrong but I was under the impression if you flash to Global Generic firmware (the XDA result you have quoted) you won't just be able to flash back to the Vodafone firmware using PCC / SEUS? cos the phone will be debranded by the initial flashing and PCC / SEUS will only download the latest firmware for the device, which in this case will be the global generic version again...

I'm sure there must be some way to get back to the Vodafone branded firmware if needed but I haven't yet found a straightforward method of doing so...perhaps I haven't looked hard enough!!

On testing myself pcc does take it back to branded. But if ur prepared to break the warranty terms then take it on the chin. If u didnt want voda software in frst place buy direct from sony, all networks do it to sell there products to its customers. The good thing about android is unless its a hardware issue then u have an open platform and if ur not hppy im sure there is always an alternate rom out there for u to try.
