I updated from 2.3.2 to 2.3.3 on Wednesday. I've noticed a few improvements such as battery life. However, since the update my phone has crashed/rebooted twice over two days. Both times it has happened whilst in text messaging.

Also, I've now noticed the auto brightness option has now disappeared within the Android -> Display menu, although it does still appear to work if you use a Widget app or the tips from the internet to set it. Although it is less aggressive than before, which I assume was to combat some of the complaints about flickering at low brightness levels.

I'd be interested to hear anyone else has seen reboot issues since 2.3.3 update and if there is a way to roll back to 2.3.2.

Vodafone, can you feedback to your firmware guys, or should I be directing this feedback to SE?

Hi Rob.

Must admit, there was never an auto-brightness setting on my Arc before the update

anyway - just a brightness slider, same as now.

My Arc has been behaving well, and I would assume the majority of handsets have

been the same, as there hasn't been much said here or on the official SE forums.

What I would suggest doing is a factory reset - on my last Android handset (HTC Desire)

I found that a reset after an update usually helped quite a bit.

If after the reset you still have issues, I would contact VF Support to arrange a repair.

i have this exact same problem, it crashes at least a few times a day after the update, mainly when going into the phone book or reading or writing messages, Really really buggy!!

My phone is doing the same.  Sony ericsson Xperia arc.  It's only 2months old.  It restarted 4 times today.  around 2 times yesterday.. and it's just generally being very unreliable at the moment.

I have had an update from our support teams this morning asking for a few more details.

So I can get these to them, please can you confirm;

What Apps do you have installed?

Is Bluetooth on?
Is GPS on?
Is WIFI on?
Is synchronisation on, if yes how regular?
How full is the memory card?

If you can let me know I will be able to update our support teams who will be able to continue their testing for you.

my handset has now started to do this more regularly it happens when recieving calls and when sending texts.its really annoying ,with this and the damn light sensor crack im completly fed up with this handset now and would not recomend it to anyone.

im really gutted i paid for an early upgrade to get this handset !! im stuck in a 2 year contract and although i was initailly really happy with the arc im now starting to think its no even fit for purpose!!

 i cant even put it in for repair i dont have a spare handset and my girlfriend is heavily pregnant so i need to be contactable at all times , if this handset turns itself off when i get the phonecall that she needs to get to hospital and i miss it becouse of this unrealiable piece of ######,  im gonna lose my rag in vodafone cambridges shop and make a huge scene at peak time on a weekend.

Recently it hasn't rebooted very often. I haven't done anything new either. But however the phones keyboard is often out of callibration. A simple lock screen and unlock rectifys this issue but it can be quite frustrating. On occasions I can't hit the space bar... Or sometimes I cant type on 1 half of the keyboard.

Okay I don't think its software based. I think its hardware on my phone.

I place the phone on a table, with a gentle knock... Nothing major... And it's restarting itself.  Think I should phone sony ericsson?
