What is it?
Any phone you get from us is capable of browsing the internet and sending and receiving picture messages. If you're unable to, it's quite likely that you haven't got the correct settings on your phone. It's really simple to obtain these straight to your phone.
How do I get the settings?
All you need to do is simply text the word "WEB" to 40127. We'll automatically detect what device you're using and send the correct settings over you. It couldn't be easier!
What happens next?
An SMS will be sent to you, explaining that the settings are being sent, followed by the configuration message.
- Open this message
- Click/tap 'install'
- Enter 1234 if prompted for a PIN
I'm using an Apple iPhone. Is it the same procedure?
Due to the setup of an Apple iPhone the procedure will be slightly different. The configuration message will be shown as a profile. If prompted for a PIN, this is your Device PIN. Once received:
- Click 'install'
- Click 'install now'
- When it shows 'profile installed' click on 'done'
--------------------------------------------------
If you still have problems after sending the above settings to your phone then the Vodafone SIM card may need to be set up at network level for two services (GPRS and MMS). You can get this done by contacting Vodafone Customer Services who’ll then enable the services onto your SIM card. GPRS will allow you to access the internet while MMS allows you to send picture messages. To send MMS the SIM would also need to be set up for GPRS. It’s worth allowing 24 hours beyond the provision for these services to take full effect on the Vodafone network / mobile number.

3 - Enhancing internet speed on your Vodafone mobile

Browsing the internet on your mobile is becoming increasingly popular, as it's a great way to access the information you need whilst on the move.
We're looking at ways to help you get the best out of Vodafone's network, and have discovered that a number of customers might have their phones set to use 2G or GSM services only.
What this means is that your phone is set to avoid our latest network technology, and only uses the older voice network. You'll still be able to access the internet with your phone set like this, but with 3G enabled, browsing will be up to 20 times faster and voice calls will be clearer.
You might previously have been advised to turn your phone down to 2G and then back up to 3G to update it on the network, and then perhaps you've forgotten to switch it back to 3G. Alternatively, you might have set it this way in the hope of enhancing battery life. In reality, battery savings are small , so we'd always recommend you enable 3G, especially if you have a smartphone, to ensure you get the best mobile experience across both voice and the internet. You may have also thought that having more signal bars of 2G is better than one bar of 3G, infact, this is not the case, you only need at least one bar to make a voice call and the quality of that call will be even clearer on 3G than 2G and you’ll have a faster better mobile internet experience with just one bar of 3G compared to full bars of 2G.
Checking your mobile is set to use both 3G and 2G is really easy. Below we've published a list of the most common handsets which we believe are set to 2G only mode. Just hit CTRL + F in your browser and type in your phone model, e.g. Nokia 6288, and if your phone's on the list, you'll see the settings next to it advising how to switch to automatic mode, where your device will automatically switch to the best network available whether that's 2G or 3G.
If your phone's not on the list but you'd like to check you have both 3G and 2G/GSM enabled, feel free to start a new topic on the forum, and a forum user or member of the team will be along shortly to help you out.
Thanks for reading!
P.S. Here's a handy video to walk you through the steps too:

Hi all
To help out with some of the questions we get about which APN (Access Point Name) you need to use while browsing on your mobile, please visit What is an APN, why do I need them and which one do I use? in our help centre.
Before getting started you would need to make sure your phone has the correct WAP and Internet settings installed.
If you're not already set up then you can get more help from the help centre device section. Simply pick your phone manufacturer, model and then click on configuration settings.

5 - Premium rate SMS FAQ

Hi
Vodafone offer three ways of dealing with unwanted premium rate SMS:
1) The majority of premium rate subscription services can be cancelled by sending STOP or STOP ALL to the short code number that sends you the messages. If there’s no short code, or the messages continue after you’ve done this, then you can always contact us and we’ll provide you with all the contact details for the company sending you the messages. Alternatively you can seek information on the offending company from Phone Play Plus, the independent premium rate industry regulator.
2) We also provide a reporting service for anyone who thinks they are receiving messages they haven’t asked for. The service is called VSPAM and it’s completely free to use. Just forward the message that you receive to 87726 (a free number) and we’ll record on our database that you’ve received a spam message. Once we’ve collated evidence on offending companies, we’re then in a position to take appropriate action. This could range from financial penalties, to temporary or even permanent suspensions of the individual services on our network.
3) Premium rate SMS bar - The Bar will block all incoming Premium Rate charged SMS messages being sent from and coming to your phone, and as such you won’t be able to use any kind of Premium SMS service. Television voting, polls, competitions and any other kind of offers which say “Text EXAMPLE to 00000″ will no longer work on your mobile. Just Text Giving (the charity donation system won't work either). It won’t stop WAP push messages or MMS from reaching your mobile, but these aren’t normally chargeable anyway unless you follow the links within them. To apply the bar contact us here and we'll get it added.
Thanks
